We love Milelja! We just finished hosting our second Lesvos yoga retreat there and are already looking forward to the next one. The first was in 2017 and most recent in 2022. We brought a group of over 20 the first time, and had 17 total this most recent time. I can happily say that all of the people we have brought to Milelja have loved it.
The rooms are exceptionally clean, the gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The pool is fed from an underground spring, and has amazing water with no chemicals, the hot tub is nice, etc. All of the buildings are lovely, with a special character, and the view of Molyvos, the sea, and the castle is incredible! It’s a short walk to town or the beach.
The staff from Milelja has always been great to us. It is owned by a husband and wife team, Gisa and Detlef. From the moment we begin booking our yoga retreats, Gisa is very attentive to every need. She helps organize trips and excursions around the island. Detlef is so helpful once you are there, and is always available to help with any questions, organizing taxis, etc. The kitchen staff is lovely and the food is amongst the best on the island. Many thanks to Tatjana, Birgit, and others who have been there for all of these years we’ve been coming!
We’ve led retreats all over the world and I can say with 100% assurance that you and your group will be completely satisfied with a retreat at Milelja. Lesvos is so much fun to visit and a gem amongst the Greek Islands. I wish we could give Milelja more...
Read moreMilelja Retreat Center is a true gem! We have been going to this beautiful retreat center since 2018, and it stole our hearts the first time we there. The owners Gisa and Detlef have created a magical place to offer trainings, retreats, and spiritual immersions. The Mandala Hall where you do the yoga is constructed in Sacred Geometry with spectacular views of the ancient Greek countryside. The grounds and gardens are a delight to the all the senses with beautiful flowers, trees, landscaping, and breath taking views of the Aegean Sea, the port town of Molyvos, and an ancient castle on a hill. The rooms are lovely and vary from studio spaces, to full balcony apartments, and even a charming Gypsy wagon. It is a 15 walk to the start of the village, which is full of local artisans, restaurants and shops offering treasures of Greece. The food at the retreat center is marvelous and made by chef Tatiana who daily prepared our meals- all fresh, local farm-to-table, high vibration and delicious. The infinity saltwater pool looks at the town and castle and is a nice refresh after a swim in the Aegean Sea- which is a lovely 15min walk away to quite pristine beach. The owners Detlef & Gisa are so very helpful, kind and wonderful to work with. We look forward to our next...
Read moreWhat a delightful way to experience Greece! In the countryside, near a very old fishing village, with sheep running up and down the hill, bells tinkling as they walk, enjoying the spectacular view of Molyvos castle from the 1400s. Milelja's hosts Gisa and Detlef are the most lovely couple, and I felt so deeply welcomed into the wonderful space they created. The lodging was clean, nicely appointed, with extras that made it so easy for traveling. The pool uses no chlorine, filled with mineral water from a nearby spring. If you're a gardener, the grounds are filled with rosemary and lavender, scent wafting as you walk by. The jasmine by the central hall smells heavenly, and the food was delicious. Their daughter Anna has an on-site aesthetician salon -- she does amazing things for tired, scruffy feet, and everyone who got a massage looked positively mind-altered afterwards. The nearby shopping was plentiful, and I appreciated how many local artisans shared their artwork. Staying at Milelja is peaceful, nourishing, and will deepen the quality of your...
