I'm not one to usually write a review for anywhere, but myself and my husband just spent 9 nights here and I thought I should leave a review so that anyone else who considers booking to stay here, maybe can think again. ||Firstly, the food situation at the hotel - the times for food is listed on a board on the reception desk, the times are Breakfast 07:00 - 10:00 and Dinner 19:00 - 21:00. Now, 3 of the mornings we were there, we arrived down between 08:45 and 09:00 and the breakfast had finished, despite the times stating breakfast is until 10am. Also, the first 3 nights we were here, it was extremely quiet with guests. We got down to eat dinner at exactly 19:00 ( as listed on the board for eating times ) and had to wait a whole hour before the food actually came out and 9 times out of 10, it was almost stone cold, way too fatty, swimming in oil and anemic. There were no labels on the food so you had no idea what you were eating. Luckily we aren't, but if you are vegetarian or vegan, you stand no chance eating here as it was literally just fatty meats and greek salads that they served. No variety and extremely bland. If I were them, I'd shorten the food times, eg. 07:00 - 09:00 and then you know, you won't get fed after that time frame rather than going down when they're still 'supposed' to be serving food, and not knowing whether you would be able to eat or not, despite paying for half board. If you aren't too bothered about whether you actually get fed or not, this hotel is fine. But it is unacceptable to have it listed as breakfast 07:00 - 10:00 and dinner 19:00 - 21:00 and once the food has gone, thats it - you can't eat. Luckily, there are some absolutely delicious bakeries on the same street which are very well priced, so we were able to grab some breakfast from there on the days that we weren't fed at the hotel.||Now, on to the cleanliness of the hotel - They didn't clean our room everyday and when they did, they didn't replace our towels regularly. I think we only received a change of towels twice in 10 days!! Their version of 'cleaning' is just neatening up the bed covers and emptying the bins. The floors weren't hoovered and we're absolutely filthy under the bed, bathroom wasn't cleaned, glasses weren't washed in the whole entirety of our stay ( 9 nights ). The shower wasn't attached to the wall, so you have to basically just hose yourself down and we had to go and ask for them to give us more toilet roll. The lift was broken about 4 of out of our 10 day stay and mid way through, we got stuck in the lift and despite continuously pressing the emergency alarm, no one came to our rescue. Luckily, my husband managed to get us out. Finally, We were on the 5th floor and there was constant drilling and construction work going on throughout the whole afternoon until about 9:30pm most nights on the floor above us due to the renovation, which is fine, I understand work has to be done but the hotel was very quiet during our stay so they could have put us on a lower floor rather than us staying directly below where the work was being done.||If you've reached it this far, I really don't want our review to put you off of booking to stay in the beautiful town of Xylokastro. We have travelled to many places and this area of Greece by far, is one of my favourites. I highly recommend visiting Xylokastro but to fully enjoy your holiday, I'd steer clear of...

Read moreRooms are ok, but could be cleaner and they don’t change towels every day, during our 7 nights stay, they changed it 3 times. The bathrom doesn’t have ventilation and there is a constant, bad smell. Also, the toilet seat was cracked, and the lock on the room's entrance door was damaged. Beach is fine, but if you don’t come early in the morning, you will get no sunbed because there isn’t enough sunbeds for all the guests. But all of this is somewhat acceptable compared to the food, which is the worst thing I've ever tasted in my life! We were supposed to have all inclusive service, but I think that even in the worst hospital or prison in the world, they have better food. Not a single meal was tasty! For breakfast you only get eggs, one sort of cheese, one sort of ham, margarine, one sort of jam and every day it’s the same. Bread is always too old. They never made soup for any meal. For lunch, they serve maybe three or four different dishes that are completely inedible and for dinner you get a little bit changed versions of lunch dishes, that is - leftovers from lunch in new form, but still inedible. The meat is horrible, one day they made fish that was the worst fish ever cause they probably took it from a can. They even don’t know how to make fries or simple potato or salad, everything was made to be tasteless and from the cheapest ingredients, I even thought they found these ingredients somewhere in the garbage. Wine and beer were also tasteless, mixed with water or smthng like that. Terrible, terrible experience! We were hungry the whole time cause we couldn’t find not a single piece of food that we could eat. I just don’t understand how this hotel can have 4 stars when it doesn’t even deserve 2 stars. We payed so much...
