Travelled to beautiful Patmos for a week with my mother, and checked into Silver Beach. The rooms are beautiful and clean and the AC works perfectly. ||We had a room in the corner of the house, ground floor, overlooking the beach, and we got two balconies. Very nice. ||Breakfast was included at the beautiful Apokalypsis restaurant in the Patmos Aktis hotel. It was perfect and Greek and varied. ||||Since Aktis and Silver Beach are "sister hotels" we got to use all the comforts of the more luxurious Aktis. Their bar, Theion was awesome, with some of the friendliest staff we've met. In fact, all the staff during our whole week, from the check in to the check out were extremely friendly and helpful. ||The sunbeds at the beach are 10 euros, which may seem a bit much, but I assure you that you get what you pay for. Friendly helpful lovely people give you water and drinks and cool towels and watermelon every now and then, always with a smile, and it is extremely nice. ||The front desk helped us with everything from a toothbrush (which I foolishly forgot) to very detailed descriptions of how to get to things at what hours and what to do etc. Very sweet people, all of them. ||I also got to eat one night at Apokalypsis, the gourmet restaurant that was a breakfast restaurant in the mornings, and the quality of the food was extremely high. They also won the "golden chefs cap award" 2015 and I understand why. ||||The pool was perfect, and gave me a chance to swim in the mornings for an hour or two. Lovely, spacious and clean. A bonus was the swallows that dove down every now and then to pick misfortunate insects from the surface that had accidentally gotten into the water. It was clean, and beautiful surroundings made it even better. ||||The beach was also great. We put our towels on the beach a couple of days and it worked fine. The sea was good, there was some seaweed, but that's natural. You could clearly see it in the clear water, so you could easily avoid it if you wanted to. ||||They have a tavern nearby with great greek food, and a couple of other taverns are very closeby aswell. There are lovely little cats hanging around, to whom the staff are friendly and they don't look sick or skinny, just lovely, healthy greek cats.||||Wifi at the hotel worked perfectly. All week. Might have been slightly slow at times, but it was never down. ||||Trips to Skala and Chora and the Apocalypsis cave were a breeze, there are buses, and if you're scared of heights and serpentine roads (like me), taxis are cheap (and not as scary) :P Very beautiful place, everything. Perfect island. ||||All in all, a beautiful wonderful slice of heaven. Thankyou, everyone, for making this a beautiful vacation for mom and me, if we have anything to say about it, we will certainly be back. ||||A tip is to try Ramona's favorite mojito at the bar, it was exquisite. And she's lovely. Like everyone...
Read moreI spent one week in July 2022 at the Silver Beach (SB) as part of wedding celebrations at Patmos. Silver beach is part of the Patmos Akti (PA) complex and they share all the facilities. The price of the room was 160€/night (including the 15% discount the wedded couple managed to secure), and I paid the whole week in advance from March 2022, non-refundable because this was the cheaper as an option. Overall, the room didn’t justify this price tag. The positives were that I had two balconies (without any particular good view), the staff was very welcoming and accommodating, the (two) bed mattresses were Coco-Mat, which made sleep super comfy. Moreover, The taverna on the premises offered good food and there are beds and umbrellas (at a cost) for those who want swim there in front of the hotel. On the flip side, the room (incl the bathroom need a renovation) and the breakfast wasn’t anything that could justify the 160€/night (separate from the PA), although they were charging for mineral water, this wasn’t always clearly communicated. Short story: I am an early bird and not a big fan of breakfast so once the bar at PA was open I was there to drink my coffee (freddo cappuccino @6€). On my third day the waiter decided to kindly offer me some water whistl I was waiting for my coffee. I hadn’t asked for water but he offered. Needless to say the item was charged. It is not for the extra 1.5€ (Thank God I can incur this cost), it is the about being misleading. Personally I wouldn’t stay at SB again, I’d rather go to a bit lower budget hotel to Skala, where I know what to expect, and have more options around me or go to some upscale apartments (some exist nearby SB), where the apartments are beautiful with Greta views, the service is excellent and the cost is manageable among 3-4 people. To me these middle-wanna be upper class hotels don’t worth the...
Read moreThis has to be the best value hotel on Patmos. Staying in this hotel gives you the use of all the facilities of the luxury hotel Patmos Atkis next door. The rooms in Silver beach hotel are very clean and simple with balconies. The shower facilities are typically Greek with a hand-held shower head. However my room had a room safe ( not in my sisters room, next door). All rooms have a minibar fridge which is empty “for Covid reasons”. My room had a hair dryer although I think that had been left in by accident. We had garden view rather than sea view. All rooms have air-conditioning.|The best thing is the use of Patmos Atkis a really nice hotel. You have the most fabulous breakfast here. Beach beds should be €10 extra per day for two, but when I went to pay they said they were complementary that week as the hotel was not full. Also you can use the swimming pool which is an incredible 50metre pool. Virtually no one uses the pool so it is brilliant if you are a swimmer. The bay is lovely and both hotels are right on the beach at Grikos Bay. The biggest negative about Grikos is that there is no convenience store. So nowhere to buy even a bottle of water or an ice cream or some beer/wine. There are a few tavernas which all seemed quite good. There are some local walks and a bus service to other parts of the island. Come here for a lazy beach...
