Booked as a cheap package to this area, having never before stayed on the Greek mainland. Having read reviews we weren’t to be honest expecting much, but to be honest we were pleasantly surprised, especially for the price we paid.||We hired a car from Thessaloniki airport for our 10 day stay, and th3 hotel was easy to find, within an hour of the airport. On arrival, check in was efficient( the hotel appeared to be fairly quiet at 4pm on a Thursday) and our bags were taken to our room. We hired beach towels for a 10€ per towel refundable deposit and had these exchanged 4/5 times during our stay. We were offered a choice of rooms, but decided the one next to the bar/swimming pool area was fine. Not huge, twin beds, wardrobe, tv with world news, large balcony with table and 2 chairs, clothes dryer, air con, fridge, kettle and sink and bathroom with a small but sufficient shower( plenty of hot water). The room was clean with fresh white towels provided and exchanged daily.||All staff were helpful, and Yannis the owner was great- advising us of places to visit and arranged a boat trip for us at 20€ less than anywhere else.||Breakfast was as expected- hot drinks and fruit juices from a machine, cereal, Greek yoghurt, ham, cheeses, selection of omelettes etc and plenty of bread and cakes with honey and preserves. This was self service and plentiful. Breakfast was served until 11am which was nice for a lazy start and few coffees!||The pool was spotless- not big but most of the time I had this to myself for an evening swim- I can imagine it quite busy in peak season though, but plenty of loungers, chairs etc placed around.||The bar was open but not very often staffed, which was fine as we used their beach bar.||A 2 minute walk through the trees and down a very steep slope past their AstroTurf football pitch led to the beach bar area with plenty of seating and a child’s play area. They host a Greek night every Friday with dancing, food etc costing 14€ pp.||Just across the road ( not busy) is the beach-wow! sunbeds, tables and parasols all available if you make a nominal purchase from their bar. There is service from the bar to the beach. The beach is sandy, shallow, with crystal clear water- beautiful.||There are lots of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel, adjacent to the beach and in this resort most places appear to be self catering. There is a supermarket next to the hotel beach bar.||I would recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a clean, no frills base in a...
Read moreWe stayed at the Melissa gold coast hotel from the 11th until the 18th of october with a last-minute booking. ||We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. It is a mid-sized, family managed hotel, located in the center of Psakoudia (Sithonia). It is very close to a good quality (private) beach, but due to the period we were here, it was not really beach weather. Even then, Giannis provided sunbeds just for us. During the season, the hotel offers a swimming pool and enough entertainment for young and old, including a beach bar. Also regular Greek nights are organised.||||We had a big enough studio with a view at a small park, which was basic and clean. It had a small kitchen with enough equipment (pots, pans knives, forks, a waterheater, refrigerator and an oven with 2 pits). It had a well-sized bathroom and a good size terras. The double bed had a good matrass. After a few days, it became colder, but we were pleasantly surprised we could turn the airconditioner to also heat up the room! This was really an added value.||||Nothing was too much to ask. We arrived at 3'o clock in the night and Giannis was still waiting for us to give us the key and showed us the way! (Just one hint if you rent a car and use the GPS. The hotel is in the middle of 2 streets, but the main entrance is not at the beach side, but at the upper street). ||Although we were the only guests present, Giannis prepared each day a great breakfast for us and he had the time to sit down with us. He provided a lot of information what to do and what to visit. He even showed us enough information to do a 3 day tour around Halkidiki and each day he listened proudly what we did the previous day. (You could hear that he was very proud of his home region). ||||Since the hotel was located in the middle of Psakoudia, you have a big choice of restaurants, but again, due to the time of the season, only 2 were open (which we could find). There were no shops open, but you could find 2 supermarkets in the neighborhood.||||In short, we had a great time at the Melissa Gold coast hotel, also thanks to Giannis and we will definitively come back. We also liked Halkidiki. It was our first visit to the mainland and although the weather was not very coöperative (which was to be expected that late in the season), we enjoyed visiting the peninsula. ||Thanks to Giannis and his family to make our visit a very enjoyable one. Hope to see...
Read moreUnfortunately, our stay at Hotel Melissa Gold, booked through Astra Travel agency, left much to be desired. The rooms are very small and damp, significantly reducing comfort during the stay. Access to the terrace, where the dining area is located, requires squeezing between the double and children’s bed, which is inconvenient and uncomfortable.
There are no mosquito nets on the windows, and the receptionist’s explanation that they are unnecessary because we will sleep with closed windows and the air conditioning on feels unprofessional and unacceptable. Additionally, the air conditioning remote is provided only on the first day with a 10 euro deposit, which is completely unreasonable since the agency’s website states that air conditioning is included in the accommodation price.
The kitchen in the room is in very poor condition — only one burner on the stove works, and the kitchen utensils are damaged and scattered, making cooking difficult. The rooms have virtually no space or shelves for clothing storage — there is only one rod in the wardrobe with six hangers, without any shelves or additional space.
Regarding service, the agency representative, Vasilije, showed little concern for guest complaints and was unwilling to resolve any issues, which was very disappointing.
Overall, this accommodation is completely inadequate considering the price and the agency’s offer, and it is unacceptable that such conditions are sold as a higher-quality package. I do not...
