Our stay at Greenbay is somewhat of a mixed bag. Overall we had a positive experience but there were some drawbacks that we encountered. ||Pros:||- The hotel is situated on a hill so the setting and views are amazing. The hotel is surrounded by peach trees, banana trees, grape vines. ||- The rooms were practical, functional and somewhat clean. ||- Each room is en-suite, towels and toiletries were provided. ||- A/C in each rooms as well as a fridge, kettle hair dryer and TV. ||-Rooms contain a terrace or balcony.||-The swimming pool is large and is maintained to a moderate standard, ||- Most staff were friendly and helpful. ||-The hotel provides breakfast. ||||Cons: ||- Prior to booking the Green Bay Hotel, we were under the impression (from reviews and their own website) that the Hotel has a restaurant or snack bar on site. This is not the case. They do sell soft drinks and beverages but the information online is very misleading. This was very problematic for us since the hotel is quite far out from the restaurants and shops. ||||-Green Bay is located further out from the main town of Sami, It takes 30 minutes to walk there. The initial part of the journey is on a long main road with no footpath. This is quite a frightening endeavour especially late at night. If you are staying in this hotel it is better to hire a car during your stay or book a taxi. ||||- Upon arrival, it took a long time for the staff to get us to our room. Moreover, we had to carry our baggage to the rooms by ourselves since the hotel doesn't seem to have a porter or bellboy. This is not an ideal situation since the hotel is on a steep hill and there are a lot of stairs. After a long journey with young children this is the last thing you need. ||||- A lot of stairs! The hotel set up is like four house on a steep hill. be prepared to do a lot of walking up and downhill. Booking, com states that the hotel is wheelchair friendly this is not the case. ||||-Although the hotel room met our basic need, it lacks a touch of luxury and is in need of updating. ||||- there were tea/ coffee making facilities and yet to tea or coffee sachets. Its is evident that the people running this place haven't thought over the details. ||||- Free WiFi is available but the connection is poor. It only seemed to work in the reception and breakfast area.||||- From all the Hotels that we have stayed in, this is the only hotel that doesn't provide a Safe for your belongings (i.e. passports, jewellery cash etc) as standard practice. There is an additional cost for the use of a safety deposit box. This is unacceptable. ||||- The management staff in this hotel expect library silence when using the pool. My children were playing in the pool, they weren't loud but were laughing and giggling as you would expect children to do when on holiday. A staff member came out and shushed them and grumbled. This really dampened the mood and left us feeling very confused.||||-The breakfast selection is the same every day and you have to fight off the wasps just to eat your breakfast. Taste is average...
Read moreWe stayed Aug 2019, and had two rooms. The hotel is located about a 5 minute drive from Sami, and is on quite a steep hill. The rooms are a reasonable size, however they are in need of a refresh. The shower cubicle was tiny, and the shower curtain didn't even adequately fit around it. The towel rail was also positioned too high for child access. My wife (who had a separate room) reported similar complaints with her room. The toilet in my room leaked also.||||The pool was a decent size, and is arguably the highlight of the hotel. It's saltwater, but it was quiet and there were plenty of sunbeds.||||Breakfast was poor. We arrived at about 9:45am (closed at 10am), and many containers were empty, with no sign of being replenished. We decided that breakfast wasn't worth the effort after that - so we had one breakfast out of three.||||We had a walk around outside the hotel, but there's a main road, and nothing in the way of a beach to walk to, as there's no pavement. The best bet is to drive into Sami or Antisami for a beach. The Melissani Cave is also worth a visit, as it is nearby.||||With a few tweaks and a bit of effort, this could be a nice place to stay, but as it is it needs improvement. We stayed in four places on this particular holiday, and this was the worst - this is a shame, as there is potential for it to be so...
Read moreIt's a shame. Hotels like this should not exist. 5 days stay in August. No bedsheets and no towels change and no soap, shampoo renewals. The A/C was not enough, the hotel proposed to give us an electric fan in order to have "splendit time" as the hotel's owner told us. We requested to change room where finally the A/C had the same problems and we bought a fan on our own. On the 3rd day a technican refilled the A/C unit with 1 litre of freon, this means that it was never serviced before and the biggest issue was what we were breathing in the room. In both rooms the toilets were damaged and tiny, there was not enough space for the toilet paper, so it was fitted on our shoulder's level!! There was no place to put our shampoo, soap, tooth pastes etc as the shelf and the rags were damaged / bended. The shower was even smaller! The swimming pool was full of mold. We traveled to Kefallonia on a very short notice due to an unfortune family case and booked this hotel based on our budget. As we were totally disappointed we tried to find another hotel, however, the prices in mid August were extremely high or the ratings of the hotels we could afford were worse than those of this hotel. The only positive point was the reception's staff politeness. This hotel is strongly...
