Firstly, big round of applause for our hosts Maria and Nikos! Great communication and cooperation.||Secondly, yes, there are mosquitos but let's not exagerate! ||Following the prior reviews, I came prepared with a bed-net, talk about service-minded, they actually installed hooks into the ceiling just for us! Thankfully, the plug-ins work just fine-the sprays work fine, patches, fine again. Mosquitos may be unpleasant but let's face it, we are not the only beings here, share the planet guys!||Now keep in mind, this is a budget oriented compound not a luxury resort but it is exactly what we were hoping for!||The bungalows are perfectly placed in a small oasis of greenery, providing privacy and peace, while having 3 exits: direct access to the town's square with restaurants (try Michalis' next door) and shops, the parking lot and access to the main road (between a fruit stand and fish market-across from the Olympian Hotel), and another to the drinks-only bar and beach where two fast and friendly waitresses run around with frappes all day!||The rooms can accommodate four quite comfortably, one small double bed and two twins, one under the other, freeing up space during the day.||The kitchenette is decently equipped with necessary items: coffee machine, hot plate, small fridge and little grill oven.||The bungalow has an A/C that works ( if all windows are closed), either cooling the room or de-humidifying it.||Wi-fi works best by the beach bar, otherwise so-so.||Customers are mostly families with small kids. International crowd.||Beach chairs available with a drink minimum, whole-day 2 drinks, half-day 1. The waitresses are peppy and the frappes taste great in the sea breeze! There's the Dolphin's water sport spot next door, water-skiing, tubing, banana, etc. The sand is quite fine, albeit with some rocks by the wave break.||I recommend Lysistrata and find it to be good value for money! This brother and sister team get...
Read moreWhen I come back to Thassos I will certainly book Lysistrata again. There is everything you need. We are a family of four. The room has a double bed and a couch that makes a bed, with another single bed that slides under the couch. It also comes with a small equipped kitchen. The eating table is outside in a lovely garden. Nothing big but very functional. We don't spend much time indoor so no issues for us. If you are looking for a quiet place, far from loud cheezy hotel with crapy animation at night, this is it. Simple. No pool, no kids club, no crapy loud show. You are directly in Potos, 25m from a grocery store. 5 meters away from a great restaurant Michalis. We have booked a car from Kavala, which was great to visit different beaches. |Our flight was arriving very late in Kavala (19:15) and we were not sure we could make the last ferry (20:30). And unfortunately our flight was 45 minutes late and we didn't get off before 20.00. That left us with 30 minutes to get our luggages, get the rental car and drive to the port. (10 minutes away) . Well, it took us 35 minutes but since one other flight also arrived late, they delayed the last ferry to 21.00. The drive from Thassos port took about 35 minutes. Much less than what Google map kept telling us. The entrance to the hotel is not obvious to find but if you find the fish market on the main road in Potos, then you have arrived. Or look for Michalis restaurant which is next door. ||You have direct access to beach, great grounds around the bungalow, directly in town but with the comfort of quiet. ||The price is great and if you have traveled to Greece before, than you know that is all what you need. ||I am looking forward to...
Read moreLooking for a truly Greek accommodation we came across Maria and her appx 10 little bungalows in a Forrest of olive trees. What used to be the livelihoods of the family and the home to some few cats and a ferret we saw one night, is now probably the coziest place on all of Thassos literally next to the much more buzzing center it is just one swing gate away.
Olive trees of up to 2000 years of age make you feel welcomed and very secluded whilst just a literal jump away from the beach.
There are umbrellas and daybeds available for free for the guest and never one second there is none available. You won’t see a German running to the beach here at six in the morning 😉. Coming from a German. The bungalows are simple but with everything one needs. We were here with our 8 yo daughter who made friends straight away. Even with kids around, it is never loud. People are very polite and you can either mingle or stay on your own. Aircon and kitchen as well as a nice bathroom with shower and a terrace for each bungalow make this place unique.
Did never stay at anything similar before; neither in Greece nor elsewhere!!!!
Highly...
