We stoped for a meal at the restaurant. The location is beautiful just by the edge of the lake with a huge sacred Ceiba tree planted just in front of the restaurant. The food was delicious (good quality shrimp, a very well balanced margarita), the service was quick and you can pay by card. The prices were really good (we paid slightly over 50 eur for the dinner of 4 people with drinks). But what I enjoyed most was the view to the lake and the sunset which made our dinner absolutely magical. We also saw some fruit bats which were flying around and just as the sun was setting. I would definitely come back.

My family and I stayed here for a whole week. The staff is friendly and the air conditioning was great. It has so much space for our kids to roam (boys ages 7 and 4) the dog resident was the sweetest puppy! We fell in love with him. We didn’t really eat there but they have a restaurant and a zip line for drinks from the restaurant to a gazebo across the property. We did order drinks and they were good and the kids loved the zip line delivery haha. They have parking inside which was nice since we rented a car as well.

I stayed here as part of a group doing the Mayan trail. The accommodation is comfortable and lovely grounds extending down to the lake. They have a creative zip line to shoot you drinks down to the lakeside terrace. We had the priviledge of watching a ritual of the ring of fire around Guatemala's national tree and the sacred tree of the Maya. This "Tree of Life" represents the underworld (roots), earth and the heavens (branches above).

What a gem! The garden is full of useful plants and many are labeled. They make teas with the herbs from it. They feed the birds daily via zipline and you can watch them as you eat. If you are lucky, a hummingbird will zip by for a quick drink. Beautiful Mayan garden with a large 20 year old Ceiba tree surrounded by Dragon fruit cactus. Access to the beautiful and swim-able lake just outside the property. The room I stayed in was a shared one but there are nice privacy curtains and even when it was full, I couldn't tell. The rooms and bathrooms are cleaned well daily. The bed was comfortable enough. Super affordable rates (at least for the shared room I stayed in). Hot water in the showers are a bonus. There is a fantastic lookout over the lake which is the money spot for sunsets. You can even get your drinks delivered to the lookout via a zipline. Nice touch! Friendly dog roaming happily on the grounds. Good menu and the food was better than most hostels I have stayed at in Guatemala and reasonably priced. Vegetarian options. The restaurant has a lovely view of the lake and sunsets are amazing here. Nice hammock hut for lounging or doing yoga. Great launching pad to Tikal with a tour agency across the street. Constant and reliable wifi access. Friendly service and they remembered my name even amongst many other guests. I originally reserved the room for 2 nights and ended up staying a week. Rosita and David are lovely and friendly and have a wealth of knowledge. Rosita grew up on the property. I believe there is also parking on the property. You must visit here on your way to Tikal or just to relax and enjoy...

We stayed for two nights at Casa de Don David and it was a relieve to stay here. Clean rooms with airconditioning and a good shower. WiFi availability was good. The personnel was friendly and helpful with arranging things for us like booking a maya tour and getting us a taxi. They have a good kitchen so we had our breakfast and dinner in the hotel. The hotel has a big garden and a terrace at the lake side. If you order food or a beverage there, it is sent to you by a zip line across the garden. Very amusing.

Concerning the Maya Tour: We did a tour in Tikal with our personal guide Loyd.

Loyd is a very experienced guide and has studied a lot of Mayan history. He gave us a lot of information about Tikal and was able to answer every question that we had.

If you are doing the Tikal maya tour we strongly recommend you ask for Loyd as your guide, it will enrich...
