My husband has family in Huehue, so when we go visit we look for a cheap, clean & safe hotel. We looked around at many when we arrived, but decided on San Luis de la Sierra and we were not disappointed. In fact, we have stayed a second time when we have returned to Huehue. The hotel has a spacious yet private parking lot in the back, which was important to us since we rented a car. One of the workers even washed our rental car for us and made sure we felt safe and had everything we needed. Room tip: Get a room at the back of the hotel where there is a nice mountainside view of some of the town and less traffic noise. The room rate was $22, and I had $20 in cash, but the guy would NOT budge on accepting credit cards or the rate, and he threatened to report me to the policia when I told him that all I had is a $20 bill. Eventually, a friend of mine in the area had to show up with $2 in cash. ||||This place is situated within walking distance from the city center of Huehuetenango, but there are MANY other better and more convenient locations I would rather stay in.
