We spent 5 days at Hotel Zaculeu and found it to be a delightful experience. It's an old structure located in the heart of the city with a view of the mountains out your window. Hustle and bustle all around. Very good food in a modest dining room. The rooms too are modest but clean. Hot water is adequate although in some rooms slow to come up. The owners are both physicians and have a small medical clinic on the hotel grounds. They live on site with their family. Very nice people doing very good work for their community. It's not your typical "American Style" hotel but you certain get the feel of this old city. Whatever you need the owners will be eager to help.English speaking staff are available. Right out the door is one of the city markets full of fresh vegetables, meat, clothes, shoes, etc....spread out over 4-5 city blocks. It's an adventure to spend the afternoon just walking around the market watching and listening as residents of all kinds sell their goods along the sidewalks. It's crowded but full of life. The room rates are very reasonable as is the food and the parking lot is within the walls of the hotel grounds. A safe environment amidst a vibrant, pulsing old city. There is also the ancient site of the original Maya peoples of the area called "Zaculeu" 3 miles out of town. Amazing and beautiful among the...
Read moreHotel Zaculeu offers a great location close to the center of the city. The staff was welcoming, eager to help and always smiling. The room was large and I loved the common areas with lots of seatings and a lovely garden. I tried their restaurant for breakfast and the food was delicious, the service perfect. My only comment would be that when I wanted to leave the hotel for a walk at 6 AM I found the front desk empty and dark and all the doors were locked with a padlock so I couldn’t find a way out. Hopefully I was not in a hurry so I went back to my room for an hour but that is something I would recommend the staff to explain upon check in. Overall had a great experience at...
Read moreI have used this hotel more than once. If you are traveling for leisure and want to use 5stars hotels you will not find it in Huehuetenango. ||So far this place offers very nice and clean rooms. It is based near the main plaza, it has its own restaurant, and free wife.||No one here speaks English but they are very nice and polite.||You can always ask for the rooms in the first floor to avoid traffic noise which does not affect that much.||They have very hot water! You will enjoy it very much!||I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to...
