Were I to hold forth on all that we loved about this place and our visit, it would be a tome no one would take time to read. It was a life changing experience. Here It is impossible not to relax and appreciate the beauty of the world and of life itself. The villas are literally works of art. Although outdoor living is built into them, with ample porches and decks, it is tempting to hole up inside with a book and a bottle of wine and bask in the living warmth of their otherworld interiors. The units are nestled into the vegetation of the jungle hillside and so quiet and private that you feel as though you are the only ones there. The staff is kind, genuine, and unobtrusive, especially the manager, Jimena, who was an angel. Although there is no restaurant on the premises, they have a wonderful chef who made dinner for us right in our villa! It was the best meal of our trip. You will read much about the views and the setting, which are bucolic. These villas are just outside Panajachel, and it's only a $3 Tuk-Tuk ride into town for shopping, water launches, and the madding crowd. But if you want programmed activities, opulent amenities, wild parties and a pool with a floating bar, this place is not for you. If you want to go home with a glowing feeling that you are at one with a benevolent world, stay here.

The view is just amazing! Definitely an overkill for anything someone have to say about this place. Stayed in the Mirador apartment which is very big for 5 people. It is a one of a kind in matters of view and housing. Unfortunately I had a few problems regarding the cleanliness of the place. The bedsheets and towels were stained so had to change them, and also found many places with dead spiders and its web. Not very appealing in my opinion, though I may be too harsh with the place. They serve you breakfast which is made in your apartment by a nice lady. Is includes yogurt with fruits (awesome). You can also ask for special dishes like pancakes or eggs. Pretty nice breakfast. The place has a jacuzzi which fits about 3 people. One day it was hot, while the other day it was not. Bottom line a very recommended place. I do think that despite my criticism this place is worth staying in, and that the owners should try and tunnel my criticism into something better.

The Villas Balam Ya is a beautiful place to stay with wonderfully appointed villas, a very attentive and helpful staff, and amazing views! We stayed in Bambu and friends were in Mirador, and I highly recommend both villas! The tub in my room in Bambu was like a pond! Being right on the lake was lovely, giving us access to kayaks, swimming, and views of the volcanoes. The staff were incredibly helpful, arranging for a boat to visit towns across the lake one day, tuk tuks to closer Panajachel and Santa Catarina on other days. We also had a masseuse visit us on the last day and received one of the best massages I’ve had! The breakfast prepared right in our villa each morning was an unexpected treat. I had a wonderful week here, can’t wait to return, and would highly recommend this property for those interested in a bit of pampering and the beauty of a quiet, beautiful spot on Lake Atitlan.

We had a wonderful experience here at Villa B’alam Ya! Prior to arrival, Marvin provided directions to the villa and options to get there. We had arrived earlier than the check in time, so they allowed us to drop off our bags while we went to explore the town. Marvin & Erika messaged us when the room was ready, and when we arrived, our bags had already been sent to the room ! We had hiked Volcano Acatenango the day before, so I was very sore and struggled to walk down to the villa. Erika had asked a staff, Carlo, to drive us down to the villa !

During our stay, everything was wonderful. We enjoyed our time on the lake kayaking and paddle boarding.

On our very last day, I had unfortunately fell very ill, likely from something I had eaten in town. Marvin took care of us.

I messaged him in the morning asking if someone could help me go to the pharmacy, he went there personally and delivered medicine to us. Even though the villa was full and we couldn’t stay there any longer, he helped us by making some calls, booked us a new hotel room in town, and asked a staff to drive us straight from our room to the hotel. When we were departing the villa, Marvin told us to reach out if there’s anything else he could assist us with. I cried. In a very unfortunate circumstance, a kind person’s action really makes a difference. Marvin even provided 2 hospital’s names and phone numbers. I went to one of the hospital he suggested, and received very good care, and was sent on my way the correct medication to recover in my hotel room.

Thank you to Marvin and his team. We had an...

My stay at B'alam Ya was nothing short of spectacular. This hidden gem truly captures the essence of tranquility and natural beauty of Lake Atitlan, making it an exceptional retreat for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

From the moment we arrived, the scenic beauty of the lake, framed by majestic mountains, set a picturesque backdrop that promised relaxation and peace. The resort itself is thoughtfully laid out, ensuring each villa has privacy and an unobstructed view of the stunning surroundings. Waking up to such splendor each morning was a treat to the senses.

The breakfast service at B'alam Ya was a highlight of our stay. It featured a delightful spread of freshly squeezed juices and an assortment of cut fruits, alongside a variety of other breakfast items. The quality of the food was exceptional, with every bite reflecting the freshness and flavors of local produce.

A special mention must be made of Marvin, our receptionist, who was a cornerstone of our wonderful experience. Marvin went above and beyond in his service, proactively addressing any issues we encountered and ensuring our stay was comfortable and memorable.

Overall, Balam Ya is undoubtedly a top recommendation for anyone visiting Lake Atitlan. The combination of breathtaking views, impeccable service, and serene ambiance makes it a perfect spot for a rejuvenating getaway. I
