We stayed at Pescador with a group of 11. The service was beyond compare. First lets talk about the staff and service, there are two service people on the grounds to serve you at all times. There is a wall button to press if you need anything at all on the wall of each room. Meal service either delivered from the restaurant in town, or for a big group cooked on site, indoor or outdoor dining, depending on the weather. They have a refrigerator in reception they will allow you to use, and also beer, water, hot coffee, and soft drinks available. There is a microwave in reception. The hotel is extremely clean, and neat. The hot water in the bathroom is a little tricky, as it is an on demand system, but not to worry, the staff will turn it on for you if there is a problem. Some may complain of the traffic noise, but I wasn't bothered, and next to the barking dogs in other parts of Santiago, this is paradise. It is a little farther out of town than some places, but the staff with help you get a tuk tuk, or pick up truck and be sure the price is correct. Did I mention, the staff is amazing. Oh yes, and you can have you laundry done on site as well. A very nice service. The grounds are amazing, with beautiful small details, many nooks for small groups, or personal space, with large areas also for group gatherings. Oh, yes, and as for the view? Within a few months, the new part of the hotel will open, with the best view I have ever seen of the...
Read moreI’ll put my main idea first: do not think that you would not cancel a hotel before actually coming here, and here is the hotel’s nonsense. The place is extreme inconvenient and almost offers nothing to eat in this village, so I ask for cancellation. The worker firstly found excuses to reject my claim, after I showed him the policy on the booking page, he then changed his mind. According to the policy, they should give me a full refund except for the first night and overall tax, and i agreed. After the initial agreement, they ask for the burden of other taxes simply derived from their operation, such as income tax, that the fees of my room not even attain its starting point. I argued, and the worker and the manager refused to talk by saying that they do not understand English and rejecting to use translator. Good luck for whoever decide to book this hotel. Run as...
Read moreMaybe I didn't read the small print but the hotel is a couple of miles out of town and requires a ride on a tuktuk (10 quetzales) to get there. And there is no view over the lake, which you might think they could have managed when looking for a location. Furthermore, the hotel lies on the road to Guatemala City so there is lots of traffic noise.||||I had a nice spacious room and the two young men who managed the hotel were amiable. There is no restaurant on site or any near by, but meals can be ordered and delivered from the hotel's partner restaurant. However I could have done with a more suitable location...
