Hotel M'LYS — Hotel in Conakry

Was very impressed with this new building in Almanya neighborhood in Conakry. I hadn’t been in this city for over ten years and it was interesting to return to somewhat of a time capsule in many places which seemed to not have changed on bit and this out of place modern structure all of sudden makes you realize that the city does change….just very slowly. The rooms are very clean and new. The interior design is beautiful. There is a very small fitness room and advertised saunas which don’t seem to work. There is a roof top that is very pleasant to go have a drink or a bit to eat. The breakfast is minimal, so if you like a bountiful selection, plan to go elsewhere because you get the minimum, coffee, juice, pastry and a bottle of water. The internet seems to work well everywhere in the hotel, although some colleagues complained not to get the reception in their rooms. It is in the middle of town, so there is noise that comes from the streets. Overall, it was a very pleasant surprise and I would recommend staying there again for weekday...

Not sure how anyone who has spent time in Guinea could not rate this place highly. Spotless, really modern design and great location. The staff are clearly well trained and attentive. I stayed for 2 nights and always had power and the AC was great. Always had water, the shower was excellent. Very good security and also had a safe in the room. I ate on the terrace one night and the Seafood Pasta was great. The room I had was not big but I took the cheapest option so this is in no way a complaint. M'lys is the hotel I usually stay at when I am in Conakry for work for a few days. Sure other hotels have a bigger breakfast or larger rooms but they are also almost double the price. This hotel works just fine for short trips with a good rooftop restaurant, quality coffee, small breakfast. I enjoy sitting on the roof or in the garden with my laptop to work.
