We arrived at the hotel at approximately 8:30 p.m. after being on buses for about nine hours. Unfortunately when we arrived there was a "problem" and the "problem" was that somebody else was in our room! The man at the front desk offered to move us to a different hotel but when we asked about whether it was the same quality, size, etc. it apparently was not. We sat there in the lobby for about an hour while the man at the front desk made several phone calls and eventually spoke to somebody on the phone and tried to convince them to leave their room so we could check in. He was not very assertive and I was surprised when he actually eventually got somebody to leave. ||||The security guard went to clean the room (only he and the man at the front desk were working in the hotel at that time of night). I had my doubts about how much cleaning had actually been done. He assured us it was clean and he changed the sheets, but when we finally got in the room and I was looking around I was horrified to see a pair of men's underwear hanging in the bathroom, so apparently my fears about what had/had not been cleaned were justified. Luckily the owner of said underwear was still downstairs talking with the man at the front desk so he was able to come back and retrieve his underwear so at least we did not have to touch it. ||||I also noticed that we had booked a king room and we ended up in a room with two double beds, but at that point it didn't seem that important. ||||Another negative of the hotel was that the router on our floor was not working during our entire three night stay. As a result we only had really slow internet in one corner of our room and to had to go to the common area on another floor to get decent wifi. ||||Our room had seen better days - some of the tiles in our room were damaged/stained, the furniture was beat up, the light in the bathroom was really dim (definitely needed a stronger bulb) and the bathroom appearance was not appealing.||||There were some positives to the hotel: our room was really, really spacious with a sofa and chair, the sleeping part of the room was bright, the a/c worked well, the breakfast was good and there were nice common areas. Overall our room was comfortable. I think the best thing about the hotel was the staff. Everybody was really, really friendly and a woman at the front desk helped us out by making phone calls about various potential tours and actually set us up on a cheesy (you ride on a train thing) but good city tour that we enjoyed. Despite my concerns about cleanliness, once housekeeping came in the next day to clean the room I saw that they mopped, changed towels, etc. so I do not believe concerns about cleanliness would have been an issue had housekeeping cleaned the room and it remained vacant until our arrival. ||||Overall it was not a bad place to stay and I would have given it a higher rating had we just been able to check in when we arrived, didn't have men's underwear hanging in the bathroom, and had working wifi in our room. We do research when we make hotel reservations as we look at pictures, locations, read reviews, etc. We also make reservations in advance so we have a known place to stay when we arrive and I just cannot understand a hotel that does not honor those reservations and tries to change us to a hotel we know nothing about. There was plenty of time to deal with any potential problems with somebody who was not checking out when they should have (if that is what really happened) long before our arrival at 8:30 p.m. When we arrived we were tired and hungry after traveling for nine hours and just wanted to check in and go get something to eat but could not do that while we waited to see if we...
Read moreThis place did a bit of a bait and switch on me. I called and asked for a room, they confirmed availability. When I arrived I was told about free breakfast and was charged/paid for the room. It was not until AFTER I paid that I was told my room was actually in a different building on the street around the corner "but I can still come for breakfast".
The building I was assigned had no lobby. There was someone there to help me when I arrived but she also told me that there were 2 keys for each guest. One for the room door, one for the door to the building. She also informed me that this lock/key to get into the building was difficult. The room itself was mostly fine. Could have been a little cleaner. My big issue with the room, besides that it was in a different building with a sketchy door, was that my room had a huge plexiglass window that divided it from the landing on my floor. The lock on the window was simple and insufficient.
I was travelling alone and as a woman this was not comforting. Also the keys have no "do not copy" label so anyone can rent a room, copy the keys and return at any time. This, coupled with the fact that I had trouble for several minutes with the lock when I returned from a doctor's office that evening made me feel really unsettled.
Checked out the morning after & would...
Read moreFor $48 a night for two adults and a kid, the hotel is ok. It has very nice people in the front desk, guards were prompt to help open the garage gate, the cars are secure at night in a lower floor garage for aproximatelly 16 cars. We got a room in the 3rd floor, the room is huge with two king size beds, the air conditioning was a very quiet mini split. It was clean in general, good flat TV wall mounted. |No safe box. |Things to improve:|The walls needed for new paint it was stained by humidity of the coast climate.|The basin drenage was not seal so a not so fine smell was felt when you enter the bathroom.|The water temperature in the shower could not be regulated so it was hot or hot.|Towels had already given there utility life needed to be replace.|So the conclusion is that if you want to spend not much money is a...
