I have never written one of these hotel reviews before, but our experience at the Hotel Maya Colonial deserves one. Unfortunately I left my purse in a taxi one morning in San Pedro Sula. We had stayed the night before at the Hotel Maya Colonial so we returned there to get advise on how to get a new passport for me since it was in my purse. They called the American Embassy in Tegucigalpa to find out the quickest way to get me a new passport. The General Manager of Hotel Maya Colonial and his lovely wife Gladys personally drove us the four hour drive to the capital of Honduras, Tegucigalpa to be at the American Embassy when the doors opened at eight o'clock the next morning. My husband and I have traveled all over the world, usually on Rotary International medical/humanitarian trips and have stayed in some of the world's best hotels. Read moreI had heard nice things about this hotel and I was not disappointed. Lovely, roomy and well appointed rooms and a convenient location for me. The price is reasonable for what you get and the breakfast is included in the price of the room. I had an excellent dinner in the restaurant and was disappointed that I had to leave so early the following morning so I was unable to partake in the breakfast. Just as important for me is the safety for me and my car and it has secured parking and a guard on duty 24/7. Read moreThe entrance gives you the impression that this hotel is a high end business type of property. But you are in for a huge unpleasant surprise. Stayed in room 202 facing a construction site. The two beds were constantly shifting or sliding..closet wood trim missing, hairs on the sheets, towels smell funky and dirty, white door leading to bathroom was filthy...ahh I can go on and on on the multiple items that made this stay horrible. My advised...skip this hotel for the next 3 years from this date of the review...since at check out the front desk staff confirmed that the hotel is undergoing a management and building renovation hence the horrible rooms. Very...
