With my husband, we wanted to spend a quiet and relaxing weekend, and found this nice place to stay, for 2 nights. We checked in at 8 pm in the Friday evening. It was a very warm welcome by the staff, and the room was very cute, very clean. I can say that, the place is at the center of the city, where there is an open air shopping mall at the back, and at the left passing the road another shopping mall.. It is at the end of the touristic Street, where no car entrance is allowed. We were thinking that this is a great choice, that we can easily access to anything we would need.. Having driven the car for long hours, we were tired and went sleep at 11 pm. After half an hour, we hear laughing and screaming teenagers outside. It was really playing with the nerves. Waited an hour, but they didn't stop or leave. I couldn't reach anyone in the otel, so I called the police, provided my complaint.. They came in 5 minutes, and then silence.. We woke up in the morning around 7-8am with music coming from open air mall. This was unbelievable.. The breakfast was good, (a little early - finishes at 9am) everything was very clean, and the girl who dealt with our entrance to otel was so friendly, asking how the night was and she was sad hearing the story. She adviced good to see places and thanks to her, we had a great day with her advices. We went to Vicolo Restaurant (does not belong to the otel, owned by separate people). Here also we had a very warm welcome, staff was fast and smiling. Food was great, as all other feedbacks, tiramisu was excellent. There was a birthday celebration that evening, and before we left, we joined them and danced. We really enjoyed the evening there, with smiling happy people. Came to room, had alcohol, so slept but later at 2 am me and my husband woke up hearing music from Vicolo restaurant, as if they play it in front of our room.. We hardly believed that the music is coming from there, not from a disco. I can't understand, how people there are unrespectful!! I can't understand how other visitors stayed in their rooms. Vicolo restaurant should have thought about the discomfort they gave. 2 am?? Isn't there a rule not to be noisy after 10 pm or 11 pm?? This was like a joke. I didn't want to call the police again.. Finally at 3 am they shut the music, so we could sleep, but thanks to early breakfast and check out deadline (10am) we had to wake up. After breakfast, I asked to the receptionist girl (the girl who welcomed us previous day,and helped us with our daily plan had a day off,so we could not find her,she was really helpful) ,if we can leave around noon, as we checked in very late and couldn't sleep. There is no flexibility with the rules. Even 5* hotels provide this. "Check out is not at 10am, but before 10 am, so you can not stay longer. We need to clean the room,as we will have new guests to prepare the room for them" was the answer! The otel was empty. Both days in breakfast we were only 2 couples there. At night only 3-4 room had lights. So, waiting for new customers were a big lie. |Rooms were clean. Breakfast was okay. People around are not respectful. No sound protection on the walls. You hear everything. Not nice staff (except the girl who welcomed us). |Even though we liked the room and location, I do not think I will...
Read moreDuring our tour through Hungary we had booked a night at the Pergola, in an apartment room (anteroom, kitchen/dining, separate toilet, bathroom/shower w/ another toilet, and 2 sleeping rooms) facing the pedestrian area on one side, and the courtyard on the other. We arrived late afternoon, and outside it was already completely dark - the hotel doesnt really feature too many signs, and you have to know that the entrance to the reception is next to their main restaurant (an Italian style one) very close to the beginning of the pedestrian area itself. ||||The apartment itself was clean, big enough, they had organised the baby crib, and everything was ready for us to settle in. Room for improvement here: fix the lock on the main entrance door of the apartment, and supply more than 2 towels for a family of 3. ||||The apartment was very clean and neat, and we had enough space of course. Noise level is fine, though you can hear the main road outside as the hotel is situated close to the beginning of the old town style pedestrian area, which borders on one of the main roads there. ||||Breakfast was interesting and certainly has room for improvement (it was Sunday, so maybe things are different during weekdays) - breakfast can be had in a separate room of the restaurant, but you can get there through a small passage in the courtyard of the main building. Enough tables for maybe 10-12 families, and tables are large. The buffet is not very plentiful, however, but maybe it is made according to the number of rooms occupied, and not all guests seem to be taking up the breakfast on offer. There is coffee, tea, some bread/rolls/sandwiches, jam, sausages, cheese - but not too much both in terms of amount and variety. Eggs - you can prepare omelette as well - yourself - if nobody is there to serve it to you (not a bad thing, but when the guy acting as both waiter and receptionist came in again he was surprised that we had done it ourselves, just like the guests before us). There is also an assortment of juices, which is actually guite good.||||Everybody was very kind and polite, and the hotel can be recommended without hesitation. The minor issues can be ignored if you are not too picky and dont expect 5* metropolitan ambiente in a smaller provincial city (less than 70k pop.) - for this kind of city we'd consider this hotel ideal...
Read moreThe reception desk was friendly. They helped us get to our room and answered questions. The room does have a sauna so thats a plus. However, privacy in the room may be an issue for people. We quickly found out that the bathroom has a see through glass door. This goes for both the shower and the toilet. So basically, you have zero physical privacy, which may be an issue. It was for us. The shower pressure of good. We did not manage to seal the glass door very well and the water leaked into the kitchen. The beds are very firm. The apartment was clean. There is a small fridge with a freezer compartment which was very nice. There is a nice microwave. There are dishes you can use. The apartment has good lighting. Wifi was not good. You could only use it in the main room and it was very slow. Breakfast. Unless something changes, we would not recommend purchasing breakfast. When we first got there, there were no plates. When they brought the plates, we found they were greasy and the cleanliness was very questionable. We decided not to eat off the plates. The fruit at breakfast was also questionable. We are almost positive the bananas were very overripe/rotten. The apartment is beautiful and it is in a good location. Its by the downtown. There is easy access to shopping. There is a bakery and good restaurants nearby. They do not have much parking, which may or may not be an issue for some people, but it was for us. We spent a lot of time trying to park so we didn’t block...
