Extremely unpleasant experience – not recommended
I’d like to share a very negative experience with this hotel, which occurred during our arrival on April 18, 2025, around 00:30 a.m.
About an hour before arriving, we called the hotel to check if a room was available and were told we could come. After a long and exhausting journey in the rain and darkness, we finally arrived with our small child. The night receptionist welcomed me and asked me to fill out the check-in form. I told him I’d be right back after getting my family and luggage.
However, when we returned to the reception and he saw we had a 7-year-old daughter with us, he started yelling in front of her that children were not allowed, and we had to leave immediately because the room was only for two people. I explained that our daughter would sleep in the same bed with us and that I was willing to pay the full amount for an extra person – even double – if needed, as it was past midnight and we had nowhere else to go. He responded aggressively and insisted we leave.
The situation was extremely unpleasant and upsetting – our daughter didn’t understand what was happening. We didn’t want to escalate things further, so we left.
Luckily, we noticed another hotel across the street with the lights on and decided to ask if they could take us in. We were greeted by a kind young man with excellent English, who said they had only one room with a double bed available and asked if we were okay with our daughter sleeping between us. Exactly what we had planned all along.
We’re incredibly grateful to Fönix Hotel and their wonderful staff for their warm welcome, kindness, and professional service.
We’ve traveled across half the world, and this has never happened to us anywhere else. I truly hope this was just a case of one person’s failure, not the general attitude of the hotel – but unfortunately, after such an experience, we cannot...
Read moreThe staff has not the proper skills what enable them do their job professionally, especially at the reception and in the restaurant - as I experienced. The ladies at the front office were unfriendly and scowling, without any kindness or willingness to smile at the guests, and their English knowledge was very poor. ||The walls are so thin in the rooms they transmit not just the voices and sounds from the rooms around each others, but even the sound of water tubes' if someone is having a shower. If you want a calm and relaxing holiday, do not expect it of this hotel.||The waitress in the restaurant was like a lunatic, the table where we took a seat was covered by crumbs - but the restaurant apparently was empty and quiet, she doesn't really have too much to do what could prevent her from cleaning the tables. She was singing quietly while we were eating and had a nice chat with the gathered cleaners and kitchen staff at the front of the restaurant. Read moreThis is a very old hotel that is not being kept in good working order. The door in the room would not close properly and the refrigerator did not work. When we asked about the refrigerator since we have a toddler in need of milk, we were told that the refrigerator was working, but too hot in the room for it to be cold. When we asked for a fan since it was too hot in the room, they said you have a ceiling fan and that is all you get.||||I will never go near that...
