In September 1998 I was pleasantly surprised by what the Slovenians of the area were trying to put together, a new hotel, supporting the Slovenians in Hungary. In 2013 I have travelled quite a big part of Hungary and this year my husband and I visited the town and the hotel three times (in spring, summer and the last days of October). The hotel sticks to its standards and despite different seasons has a very interesting kitchen. The food is tasty and Slovenian, but the cook knows how to incorporate some Hungarian details as well. I can't write that "it's close to the center" - because in this small town everything is "close to the center," but it is a 5-minute walk to a small shopping area with a supermarket. The staff is very nice and the food is simple but reasonable. Don't expect one of those large-hotel breakfasts, but it's fine, as long as you don't have unwieldy expectations. If you are physically handicapped, note that there are no elevators. Internet worked quite well and at relatively high speed. The biggest complaint that I have about the hotel is that the water pressure is extremely poor and the water in the bathroom faucet in my room came out in a spray rather than a stream. I was there in cold weather but I did note sports facilities outside, including a tennis court. Keep your expectations low and this hotel will work for you very well during...
