Hotel Halászkert — Hotel in Tapolcai járás

We’ve eaten at the Halaszkért’s restaurant a few times over the years. Last night we visited again. Location is great right in the heart of Badacsony with a nice outdoor seating area.||Family of 5 (3 adults and 2 children). We all ordered different dishes. The food came after a short wait - the portions are big and the food delicious, you cannot fault the quality or quantity at all.||Only a couple of negatives. Service certainly isn’t polished and can be quite slow. Last night was no exception even though there were only a few other diners. The waiting staff don’t speak English which is surprising for a hotel restaurant. You can pay by credit card but only if you go inside and pay at the bar - again not something that would put me off visiting again but for a hotel you would expect them to have portable machines nowadays.||Overall a nice meal which offered good value for money. We booked at Hotel Halaszkert as it was very central in Badacsony and close to the village's railway station. ||It is a very nice hotel, with lovely and well-maintained rooms, a nice reading area (where every book is however written in Hungarian, so not really accessible to foreigners), a playing area and a lovely restaurant. Also very professional staff working very hard to ensure the best experience to guests all the time.||However, some things really bothered me such as the fact that the Hotel information leaflet and the comments of the guest available in the room were only in Hungarian and the fact that one of the servers (Andrea), does not know a single word of English and even though she realised that we're not Hungarian, she continued to talk to us in Hungarian. This hotel is located on the beach of Lake Balaton, with very nice surrounding in Badacsony. All member of the staff was very polite and helpful. I visited there to celebrate my birthday, with my daughter and her fiancé. We all was very satisfied, and enjoyed very well this nice weekend. The rooms are nice, very clean, and well equiped, with beautiful view to the lake Balaton. The dinner was tasty and plentiful, in the elegant restaurant of the hotel.
