Stayed for a night as a couple during our roadtrip through the south. Great location, nice rooms with electric kettle and fridge, nice breakfast. My complaints would be that it said in booking that they had toiletries so I expected shampoo and there was none, and when I asked for it there was no kind of help. Gave 3 stars in service cause the girl in the check in was pretty useless with the shampoo and not kind when I asked were I could go to see the Northern Lights. Had the luck that when I went looking for shampoo a guy in the hallway told me they could see them!!! Maybe I just had high and badly placed expectations, cause I read that some guests were told when the lights came out, but overall, the lack of shampoo allowed me to see the lights!

This is a great place to stay, as it is right on the side of the Ring Road at Hella. We were coming from Laugarvatn finishing all the sightseeing along the way. And this was the perfect place to stop before starting the South Iceland trip the next day. This place had the best breakfast that we had in all of Iceland. It was pretty much standard items everywhere else we had, which was still good, but Kanslarinn was better. Watched a spectacular sunset from the room as well.

The hotel got recently modernized; everything looks new. The rooms are big, nice and very clean. Also the bathroom is big. The showers has enough space for two persons. Wifi is very fast and stable. Beds are comfy and hard. One medium pillow. There are plenty of power plugs in the room (I counted _25_ !!!!!) - so you can connect all your devices without problems. Hairdryer is provided. Highly recommended for a one day stop.

When we booked Kansarlinn we were a bit apprehensive if we had made the right choice but for our given dates there was little affordable in the neighborhood. What a pleasant surprise we were in for! The unpretentious road-side white hotel with its adjacent same-name restaurant proved to be one of our best accommodation experiences in island. Will start by saying how wonderful the people are, the owner ( a country music lover!) and all of the staff at the restaurant, wonderful people,. The hotel itself is quiet, clean, modern inside, the room was large, comfortable for 3 people, value-for-money for sure. Only thing that we did not like /could be improved is the size of the beds that are tiny in width! What is this with single Icelandic beds to be hardly 60 cm wide??! I had not fallen off my bed since I was 4, nearly did here. Note that the double is two teeny singles put together. Also the view could have been been a bit better but is part of the deal of a roadside hotel/inn... The adjacent restaurant was great, we enjoyed a fabulous local fish and chips dinner with some local draft beer under the sounds of some good country music for a very competitive price! The breakfast, served in the restaurant was equally fabulous, filled us to the max with both hot and cold offerings and great coffee. Highly recommended, hotel and...

The Kanslarinn Hotel is a no-frills hotel that offers clean, comfortable accommodations at a reasonable price. It's a good option for budget-minded travelers seeking a convenient base for exploring Iceland's south coast.

Highlights:

Clean and comfortable rooms with basic amenities Convenient location just off the Ring Road Friendly and helpful staff Affordable rates

Considerations:

The Kanslarinn restaurant beside is very convenient, especially for late arrivals. The breakfast included in my reservation was quite basic but OK.

Overall Recommendation:

If you're looking for a basic, clean, and affordable place to stay in Hella, Iceland, the Kanslarinn Hotel is a solid choice. Its convenient location, friendly staff, and budget-friendly rates make it a practical option for those exploring the...
