Iceland is a country that is famous for its stunning natural beauty, including glaciers, volcanoes, and waterfalls. As a result, it has become a popular destination for those seeking to reconnect with nature and reduce their anxiety and stress levels. Recently, I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Laxnes, a beautiful traditional hotel located in a prime location for seeing the northern lights and exploring the Icelandic countryside.
Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the charm and character of the hotel. The building itself is a traditional Icelandic house, with a thatched roof and wooden exterior that is both inviting and cozy. Inside, the decor is warm and rustic, with wooden floors, exposed beams, and comfortable furnishings.
Anna, the owner of Hotel Laxnes, was an absolute delight. She welcomed us warmly and provided us with all the information we needed to make the most of our stay. Her friendly and attentive service made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.
The hotel is located in an ideal location for exploring Iceland's natural wonders. Within walking distance is a beautiful beach that offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. And just a 15-minute drive away is Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, which is home to a variety of shops, restaurants, and attractions.
During our stay, we took the famous Golden Circle route, which took us to some of the most breathtaking scenery on the planet. From the stunning waterfalls to the magnificent volcanoes, every part of the trip felt like we were on a different planet. The beauty of the landscape was truly awe-inspiring and left us feeling rejuvenated and at peace.
One of the highlights of our trip was seeing the Northern Lights. Hotel Laxnes is located in an ideal location for viewing this natural phenomenon. We were able to step outside the hotel and see the lights dancing in the sky above us. It was an experience that we will never forget.
Overall, our stay at Hotel Laxnes was a wonderful experience. The hotel itself was beautiful and cozy, with a friendly and attentive staff. The location was ideal for exploring Iceland's natural wonders, and the experience left us feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. If you're looking to reduce your anxiety and stress levels and reconnect with nature, I highly recommend considering Hotel Laxnes for your next...
Read moreNot many places to eat around the hotel. Nice beach nearby. Room was basic but nice, comfortable beds and we had a room with a view. No cleaning service while we stayed so we had no clean sheets or clean cups, only towels were replenised. . The pool room was closed the whole time. Cheap bar was a bonus but the bar staff had his friends round the whole time, so it felt like we were trespassing. We hired the hot tub, but no one came to serve us, and we couldn't exactly order drinks from the bar in our costumes. Didn't feel like a hotel, plus when we booked this place we were told by Hays Travel that this hotel was a drop off point for excursions, it isn't, it's 40 minutes out the way on a bus or £50 in a taxi!
In response to your reply. The pool room was 100% closed off in October 2023. It was filled with chairs stacked on top of each other. There is a KFC within walking distance and one cafe. The room with a view was lovely but definitely not cleaned. As I stated, only towels were replaced. Friendly, welcoming woman on arrival. The location was beautiful, just not ideal for excursions as the bus station drop-off point was nowhere near the hotel. The homemade soup was delicious, and I would...
Read moreHotel room was clean and spacious but incredibly hot. No option to turn the heat down and couldn’t leave our window open as on ground floor. Yes there’s a TV but you only have 2 channels to choose from - poorly advertised on their website. No real space in your room to hang or put your clothes away. Poor breakfast choice, no evening meal choice for vegetarians. The hotel has the capacity to have a really good restaurant but found it lacking in this department. Great bus service and took 25 minutes into Reykjavik. Having said this, the scenery was beautiful and we were lucky enough to witness the Northern Lights on our first night. Would call it more of a motel than a hotel and would not recommend for long stays. Hotel bar is open to locals - not a real problem but they dominated the area. One person serving behind the bar and they covered all aspects of service in the hotel. Had to wait 15-20 minutes on arrival for someone to check us in. Very little info given regarding hotel amenities. This hotel has the potential to be fantastic with a bit more thought - food served, making use of the wonderful outside space with lights, heaters/blankets etc and the little touches added...
