Marriott Courtyard Keflavik At the conclusion of a ten-day expedition along the west coast of Greenland, expedition leader Quark Expeditions housed its passengers at the Courtyard Marriott near KEF. The expedition covered Greenland’s west coast from near Nuuk to near Ilulissat. We had been rode hard and hung up wet, so I was looking for some serious ETOH and authentic Japanese fare. Happily, sushi was the course of the day at a restaurant named Tokyo, which is located within the KEF Courtyard premises. A steaming bowl of ramen was just what I was looking for. The hotel staff were consistently polite, easy to understand, and eager to help. Looking to explore tourist venues during the extra day that I built into my trip with Quark, the hotel staff explained how I could take a bus from the airport and go to the Blue Lagoon. I turned that into a half-day excursion, complete with facial mud and steaming volcanic-heated water. Note that the free hotel shuttle accommodates travelers seeking to go to or return from KEF airport, but that service ends at around 8 a.m. (I got mixed messages about this limitation, so you might want to explore further.) The trip to the airport takes about 10 minutes, and taxi fare is fixed at 3,500 Icelandic Kronur for the one-way trip from the hotel to the airport. The convenience shop next to the front desk was well stocked with treats and alcohol, and the breakfast that came with my Bonvoy membership was solid traditional Icelandic fare. (Note that for nights that I paid with points, I had to pay extra for breakfast.) Happy to see no single-use plastics; there were bins for recycling trash in the room; hand washcloths were available; and you could turn the hand-held shower hose on without getting wet, while you adjusted the temperature. My stay using Bonvoy points was a pretty good deal, and it worked out well in tandem with the room paid for by Quark for the return from our expedition.

I stayed here for one night during a recent 17-hour layover, and it was perfect for catching up on some rest! The hotel is conveniently close to the airport, making it easy to get in a 20-minute drive to The Blue Lagoon. We arrived very late—past midnight—but the front desk attendant was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He even upgraded us to a two-bedroom room, and check-in was smooth and quick. He kindly offered to add breakfast to our stay if we decided we wanted it in the morning, and even assisted us with transportation options for the next day. The room itself was delightful—clean, well-equipped with amenities like a coffee machine, plenty of outlets, and all the bathroom essentials we could need. We did have a small surprise upon entering as the TV was on, making us wonder if someone was in the room, but it was just a minor oversight. The only downside was that the beds weren’t as comfortable as we’d hoped. The next morning, we opted for the breakfast buffet, which had a great selection of pastries, breads, cold cuts, fruits, and juices. The receptionist was again helpful in arranging a quick taxi to The Blue Lagoon, and they allowed us to store our luggage while we enjoyed our excursion. There was also a market in the lobby full of lots of goodies, food and drink options. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience here, and I’d be happy to stay again if I find myself with another long layover.

Stayed here one night as had an early flight the next day, it is very convenient right next to airport and has a gas station right outside, easy to fill up my rental car before returning. Plenty of free parking outside. Check in was easy and efficient. The car rental drop offs are about 5 mins drive from here. Room was a decent size with kettle and tea & coffee, fridge, safe, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Really appreciate the kettle and fridge for making my tea. Bathroom was also a decent size but the shower is a strange design and it's easy to get water everywhere. Both the bedroom and bathroom were nice and clean. Bed was big and comfortable. Blackout Curtains were really good compared to other hotels in Iceland. Couldn't hear any air traffic despite being right next to airport. Breakfast was buffet with a decent variety of bread and sweet and savory food. There was baked beans, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages as hot options. Always appreciate some hot food at breakfast. The scrambled eggs were a bit dry and tasteless. The baked beans were a bit watery. Coffee was good though. All in all a pleasent stay near the airport, can recommend to anyone considering.

This is the worst treatment I’ve had by any hotel anywhere in the world.||||We had 3 rooms booked as we had to be at the airport early for our flight the next morning. The booking were made many months in advance. I’m a platinum Marriot member and I thought hotels were supposed to reward loyalty, but clearly not. ||||Having been sent the usual confirmation reminder a few days before our stay I had no reason to think there was any issue with our booking||||The day before our stay I picked up a voicemail message which I couldn’t quite hear which said there was a problem. I called back to be told indeed, they couldn’t honour our reservations.||||I was panicking at this point because I thought we were in Reykjavík in high season without a room for the night. I had also pre booked our transfer to the hotel and had no way of getting from central Reykjavík on the morning of the flight if this was where we had to find a room.||||All of my agitation could have been avoided by a more proactive conversation. As it was I had to tease out of them that they did have some rooms sorted in other hotels, and would arrange for a taxi from whatever hotel to the airport for us, but this information was only offered when I asked how we were supposed to get to and from the new hotel. I then waited until the evening to be told where we were being placed (and were all together and not in different hotels) and what the arrangements were.||||We had to travel to the courtyard as planned who then took us on to the alternative hotel (which was very nice) and the taxi turned up the following morning, but it was an unnecessary stress and hassle.||||They told us they had overbooked by 30 rooms, which is a huge proportion of their rooms. I don’t know why they overbooked by so much or why we were selected to be cancelled. I can only conclude that Marriot have decided they don’t want my custom any more as this had made me extremely wary of ever using them again.||||So, book this hotel at your peril. You can book months in advance and have your confirmation reminder a few days before and online checking available in the app and there be no...

This hotel is mediocre at best. Here are the details on the 3 main elements of my review: A. Service would be 1* at best due to horrible front desk experience despite being Platinum Elite, but I added 1* for pleasant breakfast attendant service. First, they asked for my credit card at check-in, which is normal for incidentals, but proceeded to charge my 5-night stay at that time. This was not a prepaid rate, and I actually had the right to check out any time with 1-day notice, so that was inappropriate. Second, at check-in, I asked if we could have 2 bottled water in our room. They said the tap water is great, but we could have 2 bottles later if not satisfied. Tap water really is great, but on the second day , we asked for bottles for the car ride. The same lady told us they are not complimentary even for Platinum but are available to purchase. Not what I expected, but respectable. Well, a second front desk employee decided to cut into the conversation while sitting 10 feet away. She was the only employee without a name badge but at my request, she told me her name is Zuzana Pavlikova. Without saying hello, she started talking down to me how "in Iceland we use tap water." When I told her we will have a long car ride and there is no tap in the car, she replied that we can stop at a gas station, buy a chocolate and ask to refill our bottle. What bottle?! I just told her we needed a bottle, we didn't have one to refill. Zuzana's lack of manners, condescending tone, and completely illogical "solution" are unacceptable for a Marriott front desk employee! B. Location would be 1* as it is not walkable to anything, it's a 45-minute drive from Reykjavik, and you have to head that way for any tourist destination. I give 2nd star for proximity to airport. C. Rooms would be 1* due to horrible bathroom design and TV not working for a lot of channels (virtually zero American channels work). The bath glass design is terrible, with huge light glaring in your face (see pic taken at night when one guest had to use the bathroom). The shower enclosure is inexplicably small, so water pools outside. I added 1* for room...

Like the monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey, the Marriott Courtyard in Reykjavik rises from the surrounding terrain like an alien visitor to a bleak landscape. This bleak landscape, a small part of Iceland, has a sublime beauty ringed with a halo of mystery over its past, a history full of adventure and discovery. My skin tingled with excitement at the knowledge that the world's oldest continuous legislative body (1000 years old!) first appeared not far from this hotel. I was walking in the footsteps of Leif Eiricsson!

From the moment Natalie checked me in to the moment I checked out three days later, I was enthralled by this wonderful hotel. The staff were friendly with ready smiles, the room perfect in every regard including a fabulously comfortable bed, and the tap water, yes - the tap water! the most delicious water I have ever tasted.

The luxurious hotel restaurant, Bridge, served food one would expect at Michelin five star restaurants - my taste buds shed tears of joy with every bite. The local Icelandic beer, Bridge, a pilsner, would stand up to any beer in the world for taste and body. It was soooo good.

My travel partner and I spent about an hour each evening at the bar enjoying several Bridge beers and chatting with the bartender and restaurant servers. I am awful at recalling names so I can't call out anyone by name, but every person on staff, bar none, was friendly, helpful, and eager to make sure we enjoyed our meals and drinks. And don't get me started on breakfast. Wow! The greatest. Whether you want American or European breakfast cuisine, it's there. Every morning, I felt like I had a foot on two continents while moving down the buffet. The restaurant setting added to the dining experience. I really felt like I was dining in a Ritz-quality hotel.

I could go on for pages, but I'd better hang my close here. This hotel is at the top of my list of favorite hotels. Courtyard by Marriott Reykjavik Keflavik Airport, I am your number one fan. Thank you for my greatest hotel...
