Review of Our Stay at Hotel Ashoka Continental, Paharganj, New Delhi
I am writing to share our recent experience during our three-night stay at Hotel Ashoka Continental in Paharganj, New Delhi, which we booked through the Agoda app. While our stay had both positive and negative aspects, I believe it's crucial to provide feedback for the benefit of future travelers and to highlight certain concerns.
Upon arrival, we faced an unexpected challenge at the reception. Despite submitting the required identity documents and my employment ID, the staff requested our marriage certificate and wedding photos for printouts. This requirement, allegedly from the lady owner, was not communicated by Agoda or the hotel during the booking process. We managed to resolve the issue by presenting our wedding photos, but this information should be clearly stated by the hotel or Agoda when booking.
Throughout our stay, we encountered several issues, including difficulties obtaining hot water for bathing and having tea as part of room service, a lack of proper cleaning services, and an incident involving spitting on the door. These aspects negatively impacted our overall experience, contrary to the assurance provided by the reception staff.
However, it's worth noting that the presence of a Voltas water purifier in the room was appreciated, offering a positive aspect to our stay.
I believe it is essential for Agoda and other travel sites to update the hotel information to reflect these conditions accurately at the time of booking. Travelers should be informed about any additional requirements imposed by the hotel to avoid inconvenience.
I hope this feedback proves helpful in enhancing the overall experience for future guests. Thank you for your attention to...
Read moreI had the misfortune of booking a STANDARD Non-AC room in this hotel on redbus. Booking was made in February 2017. When I and my wife checked in on 12th April 2017, we were allotted a room on 4th floor. The room was not even fit for a street beggar. The bath room was so dirty that my wife felt nauseated. The cooler was broken and not working. (Photographs) .When we pointed it out to the Manager as well as the owner, we were shown another room which was not STANDARD room as shown on the website. When we refused to stay in this hotel, the manager offered another room with AC for an extra charge of Rs.300, which we had to pay because we were tired. This AC room was also not of any standard. TV was out of order. There was no wi-fi in the room and not even in the hotel. Bed sheets provided to us were torn and with half a dozen large holes in each . Pests moved about freely in the room.(Photographs ). The Manager at the time of our check out was informed about our plight. He did not take any cognizance and talked very rudely. The hotel is not fit for travelers who book their accommodation on line. My submission to redbus or goibibo is to remove this hotel from their website so that gullible travelers like me who book online on these travel websites are not taken for a ride. Bookings of such hotels will bring a bad name to these websites and will be detrimental to the interest of travelers who book on...
Read moreWe looked at the rooms first and then negotiated 900 rupees per night. This made the hostel a good 300 rupees cheaper than others on the street, which were much worse. Nevertheless: the duvets had no covers and looked very old and very dirty, there was no toilet paper, the towel was wet, there was only one for two people at first. It was incredibly loud from the street, the room had no real window panes. The door could have been pushed open with a bit of force. The condition of the room corresponds to the pictures of other guests. Over all, money for value was not bad for Arakashan Road (we checken about 5-7 hostels before).
It is hard to get an idea of the hostels in Arakashan Road before arrival. For us as long-term travellers, it was ok, but relatively expensive. We were used to a much higher standard in Southeast Asia. If you can't cope with the hustle and bustle, dirt and scammers, you should generally avoid the area. On the street, you can find a new scammer-friend in a minute who will show you around and drive you everywhere you...
