Magellan's The Golden Bridge - Lachung Hotel — Hotel in Dongkya Range

We booked this hotel for two nights but as soon as we entered the property, we realised it was a mistake. The manager here Mr. Anirban was extremely rude and unhelpful. When asked any questions he would say that we have booked online so we should speak with them. The rooms are very small as opposed to advertised. No amenities provided by the hotel. The staff in the restaurant are good but other than that I am yet to find out anything good about this hotel. We had to cancel one night and re-book in nearby hotel due to the managers behaviour and small rooms. No heaters provided. No tv connection. If you are looking for any kind of hospitality than I suggest you stay away from this place. This is edit to the above review:- I am writing this late after the check out because the manager of the property came to scare me to take of a review on food that he thought I had written. Fortunately it wasn’t me who had written that review and got off of me. I then realised the reason of why the his Proprty has all good reviews only because they scare you and harass you if you write anything that is against their publicity. I am not editing my review because I have left Sikkim but guys please be very sure if you want to book this online. Please find the review point by point below: Room: The size of the room was good. Though Lachung is suffered with frequent power cuts, the Hotel provides backup also. But the backup will be only for lights and geyser not for other switches. You cant even charge your phone if there is a power cut. Not a single switch will be working when there is a power cut. The bed is too much uncomfortable. Nobody in the family slept properly in the night. Food: Too expensive in terms of quantity. Only veg food provided because mostly people reach here in the evening and check out in the early morning. 70% of the food from the menu will not be provided. Aloo Gobhi mentioned in the menu will not contain gobhi and aloo also not cooked. The aloo paratha will not contain sufficient aloo. The oil used is also not of good quality. I have got constipation in the next day because of the food. Also, there is no such restaurant in Lachung from where you can bring the food. Location: The location is at the centre. Decent one.

I will suggest to take this room only when you are not getting better options. Better go for some more expensive room even for 1 night as we felt like getting stuck in this property.

Lachung being remote and situated at a difficult terrain, even the basic amenities are a luxury here. For the unaccustomed, the star rating might feel unauthentic at the outset, but keeping the geography in hindsight, it's fairly understandable. The recent Dam breakage led to further power shortage in the region which made people sustain on limited electricity, hence room heaters weren't provided and it was communicated by the Manager. Extra blankets are provided on request.

The rooms are basic and has all the necessary amenities to offer from hot water kettle to tea bags and toiletries, hot water is available in the bathroom, room service is promptly provided as well. We opted for the dinner and breakfast meal plans, it was fairly good and served hot buffets.

The hotel does not have a lift and serves only Vegetarian food. The views from room aren't great but the valley and snow clad mountains can be seen. Might be slightly challenging for people with mobility issues and families traveling with toddlers.
