Long review: Away from home, nothing is as delightful as a peaceful ambiance and a courteous, welcoming host. If company of nature is added to all of that, then the delight just gets infinitely amplified. At Julio's, I and my wife found that perfect combination. Nested in a grove of mangroves, the property is as close to nature as one can be: earth, river, air, trees, sea, and sun. Despite being right at the bank of the river, the property is as clean as other guests claim. Galgibaga, one of the most beautiful and intact beaches, is just a 100 meters walk from the property. Additionally, guests can also order for delicious home made food. We wanted to eat authentic local/Goan cuisine. And we will always remember the amazing food they served us. Another factor that needs highlighting here is that the neighbourhood is really peaceful. My wife felt extremely safe at their property. We are really thankful to Julio, his mother, his wife, his sister, and dear Jamie (the gentle welcoming dog) for making our stay memorable. Would definitely like to visit again. I hope Julio keeps up his efforts that make him such a great host. I have one request though. Galgibaga is yet not ravaged by the activities that go under the pretext of beach-side dining. So, it is a request to the community at large in Galgibaga to not allow commercial activities such as night parties...
Read moreSent my mom and dad here and from day one they wouldn’t stop raving about the accommodation and the kindly hosts. Mom wrote a review:
“Sabinas Homestay with Julio as our most gracious host was absolutely amazing. He gave us his time and absolute attention... this means so much cause we are senior citizens above 70. And also he was attentive to our tastes... providing the perfect mixers for our drinks. Not only that, Julio and his loving family cooked us mouth-watering crabs... yes, we were indeed lucky.
The lovely sit out with the backwaters at our feet level and beach barely 200 steps from our room.
Everything was perfect, sunrise and sunset at the beach was our daily tonic from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Thanks to Sabinas Homestay... our 4 days were wonderful.
Also we must definitely mention, our host was also our gourmet guide. He recommended Santosh Beach Bar, Neelchand (at the adjoining beach), and many other local places for us...
Read moreMy wonderful week at Julio's lovely place has sadly come to an end. A perfect place to switch off and unwind, or to remain connected and work. Sitting in the fully private verandah, watching the filling up and draining of the backwaters with the tide had a wonderfully calming effect on my mind after a week of frenetic activity in "mainstream" Goa.
There are small stores nearby and pretty good restaurants too that you can get to with a couple of minutes' walk. Few restaurants on the lovely, lonely beach, which too is some 200 steps away.
The kitchen is outdoor and has all the basic amenities, should you want to cook up something. I just used it for making coffee, the best cup of coffee overlooking the calm waters of the river.
Special thanks to Julio for sharing his home food, the breakfast of poi and prawn stew was lovely! ❤️
I definitely look forward to my next visit here, and would recommend it to discerning people who want to experience...
