Hotel G Express — Hotel in Gujarat

Extremely low quality service and untrained staff - unsuitable for Western service expectations at this price point.

Met with a daily frosty glaze from reception staff, who have no idea how to serve customers let alone smile (apart from one young lady who has been good.)

When compared to the high quality hotel chains in Ahmedabad at the same/similar price point, don't bother staying here unless you need to be in the area (as was the case for us).

The rooms are actually quite decent and the premium room is large sized. Breakfast was fairly unimpressive and again the service left a to be desired (again aside of one young lady that was kind and helpful). Other annoyances during our stay:

no room towels were left in our room once it was cleaned (hotel basics!) - I had to request these, then a guy turns up to the room and brings one hand towel LOL.

every time we return to the room, the key card doesn't work. Reception staff told is that we need to activate it again each time we return to the hotel. WTF? SERIOUSLY? The first and only hotel in the world that you need to do this.. POOR.

general lack of service training throughout the hotel is very apparent.

disrespectful manner from a member of staff when speaking to my wife, fortunately for them my wife is far more polite than I am

made to wait 1 hour for our upgraded room to be ready whilst we needed to feed or daughter even though we were told it should take 15 mins. Given excuses by reception. When I walked past the room, there were four staff members sitting in the room, talking amongst themselves and having a great time!

This could easily be a very nice small hotel if it weren't for the above points and as I say, the rooms are decent - just a shame about the very poor service.

My experience at Hotel G Express was not just disappointing — it was completely unacceptable and bordered on fraudulent.

✅ Online Room Rate: The room was listed online at ₹1,710 + taxes, totaling ₹1,910 per night. However, on calling the hotel directly, I was quoted ₹4,000 per night — more than double the listed price. After negotiation, they reduced it to ₹3,000, which is still overpriced and unjustified.

❌ Lack of Transparent Pricing: Nowhere on their official website or booking platforms was there any mention of extra charges for early check-in, dynamic pricing, or any policy that explains these absurd rates. No policy documents, disclaimers, or terms & conditions were provided at the time of inquiry or booking.

❌ Early Check-In Scam: We checked in early at 6 AM. Most hotels with availability offer complimentary early check-in, or at worst, apply reasonable charges. In our case, no such transparency existed — and early check-in was used as an excuse to inflate our bill to ₹6,000 for 2 nights, almost 60% higher than the standard rate.

✅ Industry Standards Ignored: A professional hotel:

Discloses all extra charges clearly in writing (on their website, confirmation emails, or during phone bookings) Doesn’t exploit customers with dynamic pricing on call that differs drastically from online platforms Offers fair early check-in policies, especially when rooms are available Issues tax invoices with a breakdown of charges — which we were also not provided at the time ❌ No Respect for Guests: Instead of welcoming the guest and honoring fair rates, they took advantage of the situation. Okay so here is my review.

If you are single i suggest you not to stay here coz they will treat you like you are there to do something wrong.

So I stayed here for 2 days On the very first day at my arrival I was asked weird questions Like I was local and they asked me to show my working I'd which I dont think it matters if I am there for my leisure purpose Then they allowed me to stay there.

Room was very clean and superb Bathrooms were having cockroaches and they were also coming out of the Faucet And the bathtub took lifetime to fill it up and at the end I gave up on it.

Than I went to the restaurant the food was average I would say.

At the time of checkout they cleaned the room and found some mobile phone so the receptionist directly asked me like was it a dummy phone?

Dude first of all its not mine second of all you can not ask your guests directly whether it is a real or dummy phone. Than I went to the restaurant to have my breakfast and I had taken the plate and was sitting on a table afterwards which i realise that my wallet was not with me so I went out to grab in and I informed the serving person over there that i will be back in 2 minutes. When I came back Guess what I found?

Another guy was cleaning my table and when I came back he had put the sachets of teabags in my plate and lying to me that I can still have that food.....

Dude I can see.

Overall experience I would say don't go if you are solo otherwise they will treat you like you are there to do something wrong.
