Best part of the hotel was its location – near the railway station, close to good markets, right in the city centre, and just outside Gate No. 3 of the iconic Kankaria Lake. We booked on hourly basis (6 hours) and were fairly charged (around half of a full day booking).
But the room overall was just near average. Paint had peeled out in places, there were damp patches on the wall, and even a broken floor tile. The main door was so tight that my mother could not shut it without force. At check-in I even heard staff say there was a problem with the allotted room, but the senior dismissed it saying, “they are hourly stay clients.” This attitude was disappointing.
The bathroom made matters worse – no exhaust fan (only a blocked exhaust window), dustbin partly broken, bucket cracked, and all plastic items (bucket, mug, dustbin, stool) looked dirty with a greyish layer. The hand towel hanger was corroded and looked unhygienic. Also, there were no cloth hangers (though it seemed they were never fixed back once broken).
We were to check out at 8:00 PM but left by 6:00 PM to support the hotel’s margins. I hope this gesture is appreciated by the hotel.
This hotel has an excellent location advantage, but unless basic upkeep and hygiene are improved, guests...
