The Chail Palace is situated at Chail, Himachal Pradesh. It was Built in 1891, by Maharaja of Patiala and is set in approximately 75 acres and has a truly regal setting with spectacular views. It is surrounded by spectacular Pine trees and offers excellent climate and view from it's location. The Palace is run by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Ltd.
We went there as a group of 6 in June 2022 and stayed 2 days. The property is an old one but maintained very well according to Govt. standards. Food is average but the staff is helpful. It is the location where this property scores. Calm and serene, which lets you on your own for days if you want to escape the city noises. Infact, it will feel like a therapy, if you like calm and quiet places. However, you don't have much to do there; hence if you are looking for an activity filled vacation, this is not the place to choose.
Area: Large area, but human traffic is less compared to other hill stations of Himachal Pradesh.
Ambience: Excellent. Calm & Serene. Barring some monkeys, it is a peaceful atmosphere.
Location: Not easy to reach. Need to traverse on a single road for an hour or more.
Cleanliness: The area is very well maintained and clean.
Parking: Ample parking spots available.
Rooms: Rooms are nice and big with basic amenities.
Staff: Courteous and very helpful staff.
Food : Average food.
Service: Fast.
Price: A bit on the higher side, but that is because of the Palace.
Overall we had an excellent time at the location as it was away from the hustle buslte of town. Will recommend this place for stays with friends and family, if you are looking for lazy,...

Read moreOne of the most beautiful place which I must visit on my every Himachal visit. Chail Palace has kept it's old world charm alive over the period. It is situated at a scenic location which is the highest point in that area and that makes it more beautiful.
It's has wide open lawns with lush green grass and long deodar trees which makes the view spectacular. It was builts by Maharaja of Patiala in 1891 and currently managed by HPTDC. It has rooms, restaurant, bar and conference facilities. The rooms are not upto mark as per modern standard but the view compensates all.
The grandeur of this Hotel is in its interior design, which is done with perfection. The palace hotel is adorned with ornate furniture, regal woodwork and intricate carvings. It has paintings from around the world. It has log huts, lawn tennis court, badminton court, lawns and a children's park.
The stay can be utilised for activities like hiking, trekking and angling.
There are rooms such as the Wazeer Room, Dewan Room, Rajkumari Room, Rajkumar Room, Maharani Room, Maharaja Room etc.
The food and service are excellent. However it's a small restaurant so you may have to wait at peak time.
There is a small cafe in the lawn but that is not worth visiting.
There is an entry fee of Rs 200/ per person...
