The Peterhoff is a building in Chaura Maidan, Shimla which housed at least seven Viceroys and Governors General of India during the British Raj. It has been built in typical Tudor style – all wooden frames and shingled eaves.
After India's independence from the British Empire, the building served as the Punjab High Court. It was at Peterhoff where the trial of Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, took place in 1948–49.
In 1971, when Himachal Pradesh became a full-fledged state, Peterhoff served as the Raj Bhavan (the Governor's residence).
The building was destroyed in a fire on the night of 12 January 1981. Subsequently, the Raj Bhavan was shifted to the Barnes' Court building. The Peterhoff was rebuilt to a new design as a luxury hotel in 1991.

Dislikes:- 1)The rooms were not sound proof. 2)The quilt, pillow, bedsheet were not properly cleaned or sanitized as i found hairs of some other persons. 3)someone was shouting after drinking and I was not able to sleep peacefully during night time. 4)During checkout time computer was not working and they wasted my 20minutes. 5)The toilet seat was also not so clean. 6)My room was located at down stairs and someone(staff or someone else) was smoking bedi or cigrette which spoils my mood as proper ventilation was not there (near stairs) and the environment was suffocating . Likes: 1)Ambiance was good. 2)Food was also good. 3)Staff was also good. Suggestion : 1)Dont visit or book this hotel during marriage season as this hotel is also a marriage palace,marriage was going on during my stay and most of the rooms were booked by them.I was not able to sleep as they keep on shouting during night time.
