We visited Jaipur from 26 -28 Mar 2024 and had a horrible and terrifying experience at Ginger Jaipur.||||Me, wife and 2 kids were on a fun trip to Jaipur, Ginger hotels is owned by IHCL which is a TATA subsidiary, which is why I trusted the brand and booked it online.||||I had made a payment of 8k online while making our reservation, we checked in on the 26th, during our stay we ordered food several times as any family with 2 kids would. ||||On 27th, we decided to extend our trip by one more day (check out on 29 Mar instead of 28 Mar) - of which i duly informed the reception/management that we want to extend our stay. The lady at the desk (Ms Rani) acknowledged and accepted that request.||||However soon after that red flags started to show, to which i should have paid attention. ||||The hotel management (Manager Name : V Rathore) started pressing us to clear our food bills which was around 7.5k , a very measly sum according to me but since i understood that they might need to close the previous reservation 26-27 and start a new one for the extended day 28th , i myself offered to pay at the reception,||||I asked for all food bills which did not tally with the overall bill the hotel gave us, so i asked them to provide all bills, the hotel folks were a little reluctant to do so and wanted to me to pay upfront but i insisted, so they mentioned that they will collate all bills soon.||||On 28th evening when we came back from our Jaipur outing, i again checked if the bills were ready , hotel staff mentioned that they were still collating the bills. Since we were already very tired, i offered that if they don’t have the bills right now its fine but we are planning to sleep early and will clear the ENTIRE bill on the morning of 29th (our scheduled checkout).||||All things sorted, we retired to our room - at 10 PM i received a call (with a harsher tone this time) to come down and pay the bill.||||I am an early sleeper and we don’t even allow any deliveries at home past 9:00PM as the kids need to go to sleep, so i mentioned that it was too late in the night and we are sleeping and i will clear the bill in the following morning at checkout time.||||At 10:30PM - they rang the doorbell, there were 2 people, a hotel staff and a guard. This time their tone was rough and threatening. ||||Needless to say that i was surprised as we have had so many conversations and it was the hotel’s mistake that they did not have the correct bills every time, i offered to pay. ||||Since i did not like their tone, i insisted to talk to the hotel manager (Mr Rathore ) over phone (he was not in the hotel - spending quality time with his own family while ruining mine) .||||The manager turned out to be a shameless, threating and downright insulting person and straightaway resorted to statements like ||||“ Either you don’t have the money or you don’t want to pay” ||||The tone was clear - if you don’t pay up right now we will send you packing ||||This insult in the middle of the night really ticked me off - The manager kept speaking other insulting statements till i cut the call.||||The hotel staff and guard were menacingly looking at me, though overwhelmed and deeply anguished by the insults over such a small sum pending , i decided not to escalate the matter further.||||I had to go with them to the reception in the night dress i was wearing, i decided to pay the bill in full rather than the part sum they were asking for.||||While paying i decided to let everyone around me (reception area) know the way this low minded, Goonda mentality, uncaring, uncultured staff were treating us. My wife also came down with our 2 kids woken from half sleep to see what was the entire matter.||||But they did not seem to care, after all what can one person do against a corporate entity like Ginger hotels ||||Of course with all our unpacked stuff I was not in a position to change hotels with 2 small kids and us waring our night suits, if packing and moving in the middle of the night wasn’t SO painful , I swear I would have moved that very night though ||||The next morning we left without saying a word (had a difficult sleep at night) and without even taking the coffee or breakfast that we had planned to take||||We took the coffee and the breakfast from the CCD below and left.||||The incident woke me up to a number of things where the hotel fell short but we ignored ||||1. The fans made too much noise and knocking seemingly increased at night, felt like their cheap false ceiling would fall off ||2. Toilet papers and towels were not changed at every housekeeping round, you had to ask for it separately||3. The mattresses were old spring and lumpy making you sink when you lie down||4. The electronic key card frequently stopped working and you had to get it reactivated at the reception ||5. Many fellow residents complained about A/Cs not working in their rooms||||I feel i owe it to myself and to warn others to keep away from this hotel and hotel chain, that’s why this detailed review ||||To summarize, if you are travelling with FAMILY - then STAY AWAY FROM GINGER JAIPUR , pay a bit extra and have peace of mind otherwise be prepared to be insulted, dragged down and god forbid if you resist they might even threaten to throw you in jail on a false pretext.||||What can one family or one person do to fight against a multi state hotel chain ? almost nothing but if you are reading this , you can make a difference - DO NOT GO TO GINGER JAIPUR , if you are already booked there - expose their misdeeds and the way they treat families and their customers , May be you will wake...
Read moreIt was a very bad experience. I mistakenly booked a 9 to5pm booking instead of 1 day booking and on arrival at hotel requested to change the booking and I will pay the difference amount. I was told first check in and then you can call reception for extension. I called around 245pm to extend the booking and was told the madam(presumably the duty receptionist) is busy so as per your booking till 5pm you have to come down checkout first and then will extend the booking charging the difference amount. At 5pm when I came to get booking extended, I was told that now rates have increased and you have to pay more difference amount (completely bazerk answer). On my request that I asked the extension when the rates were not this then why was it not entertained and now how can you do this. The duty receptionist started to tell me various nuisance policies as if it was my first time stay ever in a hotel. Completely unprofessional conduct and unwarranted behaviour. I am an old vistor of Ginger and have stayed across the Ginger chain all over the country but Ginger Jaipur conduct was atrocious and unprofessional. Read moreWould never visit Ginger hotels again. It was a 1 star property. Poor room quality/ambiance. The services were not at all satisfactory. The breakfast was even worse. Hardly any options for breakfast available. The staff told that due to low occupancy, there was limited option breakfast available.However, the manager calls up and says rooms are booked, I need to make all the payment on the way before even visiting the hotel. Apart from the poor breakfast options, the quality of food was worst ever. Worse than any street side hotel/restaurant. Stale paranthas, unripe fruit, no fresh coffee/tea, had to make own tea/coffee that too in thele wala glasses. No basic facilities like plates, forks, napkins, spoons, sugar etc available on the table. ZERO VALUE FOR MONEY. CANNOT CALL it a 3 Star property.The manager behavior was not good.
