I had booked this hotel based on the reviews here, and though some things were good, but other things were bad, which ultimately made the stay a forgettable experience.
The hotel location is far from the main market ,and also not close to Lidder river, you can only catch a glimpse of a stream if you search for it. The hotel has a lot of stairs which caused problems for my parents. The ambiance inside the premises is good, especially the lawn outside.
The hotel room was modern, nice and cozy, but small for 3 people. The heating from the electric blanket was good, and they did provide extra mattress. The attached bathroom was quite big with good shower enclosure.
The dinner hall was outside the building, which I have never seen anywhere, which was inconvenient since it was cold outside.
The food given was not good, everything was hard and rubber like, and we couldn't eat much. There was a big Gujarati group, whom hotel staff allowed to totally capture the area, and they behaved in an uncouth manner, which seems to be a pattern for most big Gujarati groups.
Next morning, we were supposed to get ready and leave early for sightseeing, but there was no hot water in the bathroom. When we complained about the same multiple times, the hotel staff gave 1 bucket of hot water, giving the excuse that all hot water has been used up by the Gujarati group for washing clothes.
Imagine having to use 1 bucket of water for 3 people, when having paid the same amount of money as every other guest. Why would other guests have to suffer because the hotel decided to accommodate more people than they can manage ?
The breakfast was actually the only good thing about the morning, but we couldn't enjoy it much as we were already late. We even lost TWS earbuds worth 5K due to this mess, pretty sure the hotel staff have made use of the hefty free gift to its full.
Then came another surprise from the hotel manager. Despite agreeing the previous night multiple times, that we could keep our luggage in the reception area, so that our driver could come and collect them, when we checked out in the morning, the manager straight away refused to keep the luggage there. He instead told that they will keep the luggage in open, on the road, and someone will keep a watch over cctv, which sounded like a joke. We had to pay extra money to our local driver to take the luggage for our sightseeing duration.
To conclude, the hotel stay was not a pleasant experience at all, I would instead urge people to stay somewhere close the Lidder river, and not...
Read moreOverall, my experience at Forest Hill Resort in Pahalgam was average. The resort's location amidst the scenic beauty of Pahalgam is undoubtedly its highlight. However, my stay was marred by an unfortunate incident of food poisoning, which significantly impacted my overall impression.
The accommodation provided was satisfactory, with comfortable rooms and decent amenities. The staff were polite and attentive, although their service could be somewhat slow at times. The resort's surroundings were serene, offering a tranquil atmosphere ideal for relaxation.
Unfortunately, the dining experience fell short of expectations. The food served at the resort lacked variety and freshness, and there were noticeable lapses in food hygiene practices. This was evident when several guests, including myself, fell ill with symptoms of food poisoning after consuming meals at the resort.
While it's uncertain whether the food poisoning was due to contaminated water or improper food handling, it undoubtedly cast a shadow over the entire stay. The management's response to the situation was somewhat lacking, with minimal acknowledgment of the issue and no proactive measures taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
In conclusion, while Forest Hill Resort boasts a picturesque location, the subpar dining experience and the unfortunate incident of food poisoning detracted from the overall enjoyment of my stay. Improvement in food hygiene practices and a more proactive approach to guest safety are areas that the resort should prioritize to enhance the...
