I loved the quaint vibe the stay had. It’s tucked away in a quiet corner, away from the crowd. So this is gonna be long and informative, so buckle up.
First if you book the stay, then get down at Kumta and not Gokarna Road railway station. Then take a cab to the stay. It should cost you anywhere bw 300-500(from Kumta railway stn).
The check in time is 12:00 PM, but you can chill around the dining area till the rooms are ready.
Food: The quantity of the food is pretty less. I’d prefer it if the quantity was more. The food is real good though, taste wise.
Rooms: You can either book a tent or a room. Keep in mind that the rooms are not air conditioned. So it will get severely hot in the day time; night time is manageable. I really wish they add the AC cuz it gets maddd hot. You’ll literally feel like you’re in an oven.
The caretakers: I swear they are some of the most nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Special thanks to Mr. Baadshah who was kind enough to arrange our transports to and fro to the places we wanted to visit.
The Beach: Take full advantage of the fact that the beach is literally right in front of the property. You can enjoy the best sunsets without much people. It’s the best!
The WIFI: The WiFi in the main dining area is pretty good and fast. But the moment you retire to your rooms, the signal is real bad.
If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to spot peacocks in the morning. It a sight to see!
To get to Gokarna, you’ll have to take an auto/cab to the port, then take a Ferry (last ferry back is at 6:30 PM; it operates every half an hour from 9 AM).
All in all, the stay as such was very good. I’d recommend it! Only thing I’d stress is to add an AC to the rooms cuz the heat really...
Read moreSandy Shores will definitely have a special place in my heart. The views the people and the place. It is a great place to escape from the crowd and spend some time in the wild. It is not situated in the city centre but just 20 mins away if you are using a two wheeler. The place looked spooky initially but later we loved it. We took a standard room which is comfortable for 2. The room had a very rustic and earthy feel to it. The amenities were decent considering that this is a stay and not a hotel. It is really very calm and you can hear the sounds of the waves until your room. The food was a bit expensive, but that is the price you pay for living far off from the city crowd. They prepare their food then and there based on the order so I advice you to order an hour in advance. We loved their gokarna style chicken and the dal kichidi and chicken pakoda. Coming to the people, Sneha who runs the stay was super kind and super warm. She gave us an early check-in and guided us really well. She knows her locals and can help you with pretty much anything. We stayed there for 3 nights and it already feels like home. And Rani(the pet dog), you will be...
