A well-appointed, well-situated, airport hotel with great staff and excellent food.
The positives: • The poolside breakfast buffet: Ranks as one of the best I’ve had in India. While the range of items was not the widest I have seen, the Courtyard has made the smart decision of doing what few they do, very well: there was not a bad dish among them. The dinner buffet was of a similar quality and the Courtyard remains the only premium hotel I’ve been to that could manage a proper Kerala "naadan" meal experience without feeling the need to tart it up with nouvelle pretensions. • Service: Across the board was of a very high standard - prompt, friendly and proactive. Check-in in particular was expedited and efficient with checkout being prompt and trouble free. The single maintenance query was responded to swiftly and successfully. • The rooms: the Marriott (in India at least) is a luxury experience so a certain amount of premium is expected. That being said, the Courtyard makes it seem like money well spent, especially for the executive package: the suite is large and well appointed, the complimentary breakfast exceptional, the lounge access convenient and the airport shuttle useful. • Design and layout: Special mention has to made regarding the desk-side plugin panel with its universal plug points (a feature strangely absent in many hotels catering to business travellers) which allowed for a very pain-free setup (this included playing my own digital content on the sitting room TV without having to struggle with the back panel). This foresight extended to the general layout: the spa/health/pool facilities, while small, were impeccably maintained. • Internet: blazingly fast with no less than seven device connectivity, another true rarity among business hotels. I was able to host multi-caller video conferences with no lag. Focus is important. When done right, very little is as helpful in prioritizing areas of value. For premium airport hotels, focus is not desirable, it's essential.
The challenges: • Audio/Visual: The baffling lack of HD television channels (which is ironically exacerbated by the large screen TV’s present in the rooms) and the surreal choice of EDM music for ambience (all EDM, all the time, everywhere: eating breakfast to random looping drum ‘n’ bass tracks was a surreal experience) • Executive Lounge: The absence of an evening buffet in the Executive Lounge, something which is provided by the Courtyard’s sister hotel in Kochi, The Kochi Marriott (KM). The inclusion of this in the KM’s Executive Package went a long way towards justifying that hotel’s not inconsiderate cost and conversely, makes its absence in the Courtyard, a hotel of the same chain, in the same city, specifically geared towards the active traveller, that much more puzzling. • Housekeeping Speed: The greatest drawback however, remains housekeeping. For two out of the three days, despite being alerted to clean at 8 am, the room remained untouched, up to four hours later. Some delay could be expected for the noon to 3pm rush period but the curious morning delay meant twiddling our thumbs while we waited for a knock on the door. That being said, the work when it was done (albeit delayed) was speedy and of a generally high quality. Reading of the previous reviews of the Courtyard show that this is not an isolated event. The overall impression is therefore not of poor workmanship but an overburdened section with either insufficient staff/too few physical resources or inappropriate room...

Dont get misled by the ‘Courtyard’ labeling on this Marriott property. It feels and exudes luxury more like a clasisc Marriott property. Everything from the hospitality to the quality of amenities and facilities are top notch. And at the price you pay - this is more than a Bargain! ONly complaint is they could a better job on keeping the common areas at the right temperature! Most of the lobby, restaurant areas are quite warm and not ideal especially for a humid and warm place like Kochi
LOCATION: Literally stone;s throw away from teh airport. And they also offer a free Airport Transfer that was a breeze and didnt take more than a couple of minutes!
DINE + DRINK: The Momo Cafe in the lobby level is a nice place to get local and international food, and is also 24 hours. However be prepared to be looking at a lame menu AFTER 11 PM in the night! However they more than make up for it by delivering an unbelievably HUGE spread of dishes at BREAKFAST. I was quite shocked to see such a wide variety of dishes in a Courtyard Marriott hotel breakfast. They had more than a dozen LOCAL dishes, national dishes and on top of they also had the cliched (usual suspects like sausages, toast, beans etc!) international dishes. And of course you get the luxurious choice of getting custom ordered dishes - everything from a Dosa and Paratha to eggs made as per your taste. However dont leave the pale without trying one of their awesome Appams(Egg appam to be specific!)
ROOM: We stayed in 232 which was a SUITE room, so this review is based on that; VIEW: decent view of the highway and the airport at a distance; SIZE: Very spacious Suite with a living area and a separate bedroom; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower and luxurious Bath tub and also a separate guest bathroom in the living area.; TOILETRIES: INGIS branded good cosmetics
FACILITIES: Very decent Gym with a basic range of weights and Cardio machines and Lats machines. All machines and weights by TECHNO GYM which were in perfect condition. The outdoor Swimming pool was fancy enough and great for a Aqua workout or a relaxing lounge in the evening.
SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all my needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout out to staff at the Momo cafe , who made my breakfast experience special. Especially NAVEEN -who whipped up wicked masala Chai’s for me, and JESSY who made my feel like i had come back home! And we were blown away by the special touch from ADVAITHA (the front office manager) who had gone out of her way to create a hand-made art work to make the welcome experience unlike any other in Marriott properties in India! #HighClassHOspitality
HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in...
Read moreMy recent stay on 17th and 18th march 2024 at Courtyard Marriott Kochi got off to a good start with Mr. Dheeraj's simple smile and proffessional approach, he helped us convert one of our rooms into a suite at an additional cost. and then at the service provided by Mr. Issac at the lounge was very nice, both these staff members exhibited professionalism, amiability, and courtesy all through .
Well, the surprising reverse of above was during the check-out process the next day. Mr. Gourav, at check-out desk at 6.15am , denied us complimentary breakfast. which never happened to us before as Bonvoy members and regular patrons of elite Marriott properties such as St. Regis and Westin. we were surprised, especially because we had paid for the suite upgrade in full at check-in. When we raised the issue and requested to speak with the manager, Mr. Gourav's behaviour bordered on rudeness, he went in and came back with a message saying the manager said something like no free breakfast and he refused to provide us with the manager's name the manager being so high and mighty was something new that we saw here.
This lack of communication regarding breakfast charges, both during the booking process and at check-in, led to our extreme dissatisfaction. As frequent Marriott guests, we deserve better treatment and transparency I guess. Mr. Gourav's handling of the situation left us feeling disheartened and undervalued as customers.
While the exceptional service provided by Mr. Dheeraj and Mr. Issac was over and above expectation, the disappointing experience at check-out overshadowe every thing else. We left the property without breakfast, feeling disillusioned and questioning our continous revisits to marriott properties.
To Close this, I would say Courtyard Marriott Kochi has comfortable accommodations and exceptional service from certain staff members, but some others the lack professionalism We hope that the management looks into these small lapses and ensures that every one receive the high-quality service and treatment they deserve and expect...
