We booked a hotel room for Christmas and from the moment we started communications with the hotel the service was horrendous. Initially, they didn't answer any emails. Only after I called them from the US did they even answer our booking request. They then tried to mark us up by 8,000INR (~$150) by repeatedly miscalculating the bill. When I questioned their math for the 3rd time, they finally corrected the bill.
Also, they insisted we pay in full to reserve the room and that the money needs to be transferred to their India account- no online payment. We had to ask a friend's family to deposit the money for us.
We were already worried about the hotel but had heard good reviews so thought it was worth the trouble. Unfortunately, we were wrong. When arriving in the hotel, we discovered our room had a view to nowhere. It was a ground room where it wasn't possible to see above the hotel gate. The worse part was that the room was super noisy from the road below. Basically, all you could hear were honks.
We tried asking for another room and were lied to and told they were fully booked (they actually had two other rooms they later offered but were just as noisy). Also, they mentioned that all the rooms are that noisy.
We also asked the staff help with booking tours and cooking lessons and got the amazing reply "all the tour guides in the city are booked right now" or "just go work in our kitchen". A quick google search on our side and a few phone calls later and we had found a tour and a cooking lesson on our own. When we understood the prices, we also understood we're better off staying somewhere else, that has all these activities included rather than paying for them separately. We decided to leave the hotel and were lucky to find a place somewhere wonderful.
We asked the hotel to partially refund us for our stay since they hadn't met any of their promises on the website and we won't be using their services. They lied to us repeatedly and didn't help us at all. They went as far as to laugh in our faces. We really regret not trusting our instincts from the get-go. Wish we'd never talked with...
Read moreI’ve been to Munnar several times. But this time, choosing Forest Glade Resorts made the trip adorable! ||||We reached very late night around 11:30, we were completely exhausted after long drive, check in was smooth and the warm welcome and the way the staff took care of us animated us to enjoy a late night dinner. The food was so delicious – they have all ranges of cousins, the smoked chicken steak was scrumptious. The staff and chef made sure that they provide what we asked for and made the best what they can.||||My wife and I really enjoyed the ambiance of the entire place. The garden and lush green surroundings unfolds the beauty of nature. My best part was sitting cozy at the balcony, enjoying the constant cool and fresh breeze with spicy mist. Felt Charismatic!||We really enjoyed the room facilities and the cool-subtle feeling lingering around as we don’t like vibrant plasma colors or animated walls. They have carefully used colors and decors in such a way they radiate tranquility and peace of mind. ||||We stayed 2 nights there. Their staff helped us for trekking through woods just behind the resort – the path way starts from resorts and connects to woods. My kids really enjoyed walking through the woods listening chirping of birds and crickets, enjoying sunrise. After trekking a hot bath in Jacuzzi made the day. ||||I appreciate the efforts all staff put in to make every guest feel great. Every moment we spent there was cherishing, from arrival till...
Read moreOne of the worst overpriced hotels ever seen,Nothing of 'forest glade' kind of good inside. Highly not recommended The cost of rooms is not found less than 9000/..... ,having seen around,it seems that rooms were too small, and no 'facilities' or the ' professionalism of hospitality' of hotels like that of Club Mahindra or Taj hotels are found . Not advisable especially for single woman /gents travellers. Hotel staff manager is religiously biased or seems to have more acceptance of people /women wearing outfits exposing body.My daughter was denied room under such grounds.
Their hotel receptionist, one v.tall lady dressed in sari, took ,personal details, got the name, address, and aadaar number. The rooms extremely small were charged for 8000/ ....At time of payment, the idiotic manager ,came to her asking,"We dont want to give you room, since you seem to be uncomfortable in normal sari, why you are wearing a closed muslim purdah,That is our problem to give you room here".
We being from background of professionals, have no necessity to expose our religious, sensitive or personal reasons for self defense.
In other words they mean to say ,If any woman goes for a room accomodation wearing a swim-suit/half-skirts/ saris too exposing, they will no doubt get accomodation from manager starightaway ,no prebooking, and THE MANAGER WILL NOT HAVE A PROBLEM ABOUT ANYTHING,Because their only condition is they want to see through...
