This review is not about the hotel, but about the restaurant. I had Onam Sadya from here today and it was a total disaster. The avial tasted funny and the elderly couple who were on the other table adviced me not to have aviyal as it is spoiled. There were very few curries only. The parippu curry was bland. Sambar was below average. Kaalan and inji curry were excellent and other curries were just okay.
Coming to the service part, I was seated as soon as I got in. Since I hadn't made a reservation, I had to wait for few minutes, but it was fine. The young lad at the cash counter was good and he made sure I'm attended. Here comes the best part. A tall guy comes in, he's not a staff. May be part of management as he held a bossy body language. He gave me a look that felt to me like "who let him in". He was serving rice to the elderly couple, and while going to their table with rice, he asks me, "entha?". I said "paranjairunnu. Oru Onasadya". Again he asks "aarodu paranju?" and walked towards the couple and served them rice. I seriously didn't like the way he talked and attitude. He may be manager or even the owner. But that's not the attitude or tone you want to take to a customer. While he was coming back, I asked him in a serious tone - "chettan entha chodiche" and then he toned down his voice.
The 2 waiters were quick, but had no service experience, but had a positive attitude.
As they served rice second time, I felt I missed something. Yes!!. They didn't serve me Pappadam. Who on earth serves Onam Sadya without Pappadam?. I asked one of the waiters, if I can have a Pappadam. He said let me go and check🙄. While I waited for Pappadam, I got two types of payasam and had almost finished my rice. Again our Hero chettan entered the scene holding a paper cup and a basked with 2 pappadams. I told him "payasam kittiyairunnu" he replied in a mocking tone "moru kittiyarnno"?. He could have said it's moru. But no, he has to say Moru kittiyarnno. May be he didn't like me coming there or he didn't like waitering. The Pappadams were cold and not fresh. The elderly couple complained to him while leaving and I didn't see him apologize.
The lad at cash counter came near me and asked if I need anything and apologized for not providing the best service(I hadn't even made a complaint). They were not planning a dine in that day. But they could've given good service and better food.
To summarize, service was pretty average. Food was disappointing. They didn't give enough Currys. But lavishly refilled what was served.
I didn't even get rasam, beans/payar thoran, pineapple pachadi, cucumber pachadi, Olan and most importantly a banana to have with payasam. Not at all satisfied with Kabani Palace today.
The palada paysam didn't have enough milk in it. It was just thick Ada. Honestly, in any given normal day, a vegetarian restaurant would have served better meal with more curries and offered better service. Remember team Kabani, customer is the king. If you can't treat us like kings,...
Read moreWe won’t be visiting this place ever again in my life. Today was a really bad day for us or the staff in this place spoiled our day like hell. I am UK resident and i am visiting this place for the first time along with my brother and friend and way the staff (claimed to be the manager &supervisor )insulted us in-front of everyone was really disappointing . We were using the executive bar facility and after we paid the bill we used the lift to go upstair to see the cabin and auditorium facility as one my family members engagement was held there and i was away for that and to be honest we didn’t know it was a restricted place for us enter this auditorium or the rest of the floors in the building as nothing was written or the staff member who saw us in the first time didn’t even redirect us from going. After we reached the auditorium space and while we were talking to the person there two guys ( manager , Supervisor)just showed up and were throwing false acquisitions against us as we were opening rooms of residents staying there. The manager was imposing everything on our head and he said we were enquiring about the auditorium to cover up what we did.We requested to check the CCTV footage to find out if we did something wrong but they were just insulting and blaming us for coming upstairs.I think the manager is not capable of handling situations like this as he didn’t even consider us as customers and the way he talked was really rude.If they have said that we were not allowed here in this place in a polite manner was a much more better way for a qualified manager to talk to a customer rather than insulting us.At last we requested for a customer feedback form or a complaint form the person who was claiming was the supervisor told us to come back tomorrow if we have any complaints I don’t know how senseless he is or may be he don’t know the value of our time.I think we owe an apology from the manager for insulting us and claiming false acquisitions against us.Worst treatment ever in life.Authorised person please check the CCTV and see what...
Read moreHi, Just wanted to share our recent experience with the function room use. We celebrated my mother's 80th birthday recently. The staffs were extremely nice. The hotel's GM,Mr Febin came across as a friendly person. There were a few things I would like to mention here if anyone is planning to hire the function hall. The main thing is that they charge you per plate used. So if a small child takes a plate and then takes another one you will be charged twice. This, I find is very unfair, almost a scam. We ended up paying almost Rs 20000 extra. In bigger hotels like Hyatt ,they have a system to count the head. This is more accurate. When we brought it to the attention of GM, the response was that it was informed to us that it will be a plate charge. He would have told it as a passing comment(which I cant remember) but no explanation was given as to what it means. We would have announced otherwise at the function. There are a few communication gaps here and there. Generally, the ambience was nice and the staff friendly. We decided not to take it further as on the whole we had a good time and the staff was friendly Mr Febin had even arranged another room for elderly people to sit and have a meal. We really appreciate that. Since we were charged a lot more than expected, it did leave a bitter taste. We will think twice before coming back to Kabani Palace...
