I had a very disappointing and unpleasant experience at Royal Bakes, Muvattupuzha, on Friday (26/9/25) evening. I went there with my family, including my children, and unfortunately, the food quality and hygiene standards were extremely poor.

We ordered chicken noodles, parotta, and chicken curry. The food especially chicken tasted off, and shortly after eating, all of us — including my children and husband — fell sick with diarrhoea. This was very distressing and clearly points to serious food safety issues.

Adding to that, the service was unacceptable. The waiters appeared unkempt and unhygienic, were rude, and were even arguing with each other in front of customers. This shows a complete lack of professionalism.

To make matters worse, a sealed chips packet I purchased from there was infested with ants, despite being well within its expiry date. This was shocking and highlighted how poorly food is stored and handled.

Overall, this experience has left us very dissatisfied. The management urgently needs to review their hygiene practices, staff training, and quality control measures. Horrible experience today. I took my mother and sister to this restaurant in the morning, thinking we’d have a good breakfast before they caught their bus. We placed our order for poori masala and a few other items around 9:15 AM. I had to leave for work at 10, and they had a bus to catch from KSRTC at 10:50.

After waiting for so long, the staff casually informed them that the cook was on leave and the only thing available was porotta and egg curry. Are you serious? Why take the order in the first place if you knew the kitchen wasn’t functioning properly? They could’ve told us right when we placed the order instead of wasting so much time.

In the end, my mother and sister had to leave without eating anything because there was no time to look for another restaurant. It’s frustrating and unacceptable.
