KK Residency — Hotel in Kerala

K. K. Residency is the number 1 hotel and the First Four Star Hotel in Payannur. As my hubby and I were going to be in the city for just a few hours to attend a function, we decided to book a room here. When our relative called us a week before the function, he told us that he has booked rooms in the same hotel for us, so we were happy as we had read about the positive reviews for this place.||||It takes just 2.5 hours from Mangaluru to Payannur, but thanks to the terrible roads, it took us a bit longer. We use Google Maps whenever we travel and 99.9% of the time, it is accurate and we are able to reach our destination without any problem.||||We reached Payannur around 10 AM and thanks for the narrow roads, which included a few one ways also, it took us a while to reach K.K .Residency because it is not located on the Main Road, but from the Main Road, we should take a right and go further inside. The hotel is located just opposite the Bus Stand and about 15 minutes (with traffic) from the Railway Station. This will be convenient for those travellers as they don't have to hunt for a good hotel.||||There is ample space in the parking lot and the hotel looks really nice from the outside. The hotel is white and brown and has a touch of the authentic architectural style of Kerala. We entered the hotel and to our left was a huge beautiful lit velakka and an uruli decorated with various flowers. It was so pretty.||||We took the elevator which was located at the far end of the lobby. It's a glass elevator, so you can get a good view of the city as well.||||I believe there are 20 rooms and 2 suites in K. K. Residency. This hotel has different restaurants to choose from. They are:||||Samtripthi - A Coffee Shop which is open from 7 AM to 7 PM;||Subiksha - Multi-cuisine Restaurant which is open from 11 AM to 11 PM; and||Shangrila - Chinese Restaurant||||The hotel offers a list of tour packages which you can choose from so you can check out the places in and around Payannur. . They also have daily sightseeing trips on request. K. K. Residency also has a Convention Centre and a Banquet Hall to hold your special functions. Another nice facility about this hotel is that they have free pick up service from Payannur Railway Station. ||||We stepped out of the elevator and started walking down the long corridor. Once we reached our room we could make out it was extremely spacious. Not only the room, but the bathroom as well!||||Next to the bed was a huge wardrobe to keep our luggage and other belongings. There was an extra addition to the wardrobe like a desk with compartments where we could also keep our things.||||There was not a dressing table as such, but a big mirror right opposite the bed with a shelf underneath to keep stuff.||||Finally, from the window, we could see the bus stand, main road, etc as this was a front facing room. Next to the window was a big table and chair and on the table was a LED TV. The AC was on full blast and felt good especially after travelling since early morning.||||Coming to the bathroom, it was clean and compact. I never thought there would be such a nice hotel in Payannur. ||||We got ready quickly as the function was going to start at 11:30 AM. The function plus lunch lasted about 2 hours and we came back to the hotel by 2 PM. ||||We were happy with our quick stay at K.K. Residency. We had visited this hotel to attend a marriage function. Had booked 2 Standard rooms from Cleartrip and Makemy trip website with a good deal (CP plan)||Location is exactly opposite to Bus Stand... however the approach road is a narrow lane to the Hotel entrance...sometimes difficult to find/track while coming from either end of main roads since the Hotel Board is kind of hidden/not so easy to see near bakery shops.||||But, having said that there so many positives of Hotel KK Residency.||||Car Parking space is plenty..||Food delivered via Room service is decent and tasty for the price charged (reasonable..not so expensive unlike other 3 star hotels). however there is 12% service tax on Room service||||Room was spacious with AC with remote & Fan working fine.||Room was simple (basic) but very clean, with mini bar, Electric kettle and other Wardrobe facilities. Wooden Furnitures looked good.||Bathroom had a separate Toilet area, Washbasin & Shower Area ..making it very spacious... however we felt the need of a Exhaust Fan..Shower area used to get warm...seemed like it had no ventilator...though there was one in the low ceiling but felt it wasn't effective enough. ||||Hotel Staff were very good and professional yet friendly/helpful. ||Hotel Staff gave a very prompt service throughout our 2 night stay.||Check in and Check out formalities were also very quick and we didnt have to wait too long.||||Complimentary Breakfast is provided via Coupon stapled on your room newspaper Breakfast starts at 8-8.15 AM and available till 10.30 AM... however comparing with other hotels we felt 8 AM is quite late for a breakfast to be ready... it should have been available at least from 7 AM .. Spread is decent with 3-4 Varieties. ||Breakfast was tasty and fresh for certain dishes and some dishes were just OK.||There was no free wifi. There was a 32 Inch LCD TV with all required channels (not HD) ||||Overall we had a very comfortable stay primarily because of well informed Staff and Reception/help desk . We would recommend this hotel to everyone who is looking for a value...

Lets start...Pros and Cons together||1. The hotel is centrally located opposite the Bus/Taxi/Auto stop in Payyanur and not Kannur. However location can not be identified from main rd. No sign boards. The rd Linking the main rd is narrow and surrounded by shops. Follow Google Map. |2. About 3.5star. But May be one of the best hotel in Payyanur town.|3. Just 3km from Railway station.|4. All rooms are spacious and clean.Room service is almost fast and the Room service manager Mr Satish is humble. The room service staff speaks both Hindi and Malayalam. House Keeping is big plus for the Hotel. 4.5/5|5. The restaurant is well decorated with large paintings .Dim as a bar but people working here have smile. The quality of food is good with limited menu. The cleanliness can improve a bit.. Stained table cloth. The crockery is shinning and pricing is well affordable. 3.5/5|6. The hotel has Limited parking space.|7. The biggest advantage/disadvantage is bar on the ground floor slightly outside the main entrance. An extension on top floor makes the lift smells at time. |8. The staff Other than house keeping and two front office Managers.. Mr Sajeev and Mr Prveen is straight faced...not a bad behaviour but a little bit of smile in Service industry always gets you brownie points.|9. For aplace like Payyanur ifnyou are on buisness visit or a shirt visit this hitel is 4.5/5 but for leisure its 3.5/5....temples and place s to visit are near but ...
