Lake n River Resort Munroe Island — Hotel in Kerala

This Review is purely based on Value For Money At This price point... The Rooms, Services, Aminities as I felt..

We, a group of 6 Families consisting 12 Adults, 02 Kids(5-12Yrs) and 6 infants were checked in 28 Jan 2023. We booked 2 Suite rooms and 4 Standard Rooms.

Points I felt to share to all those, who planning to spend holidays here:

The only positive thing I felt is the courtesy of the staff and their efforts to overcome the poor management.

The location has its ambience, but the structures including the building and the Rooms not contributing anything to the ambiance, but actually ruining the Beauty of the Location.

Rooms are not Value for Money. Especially the Suite Rooms are such a waste. The only addition is the sofa set, the wardrobe is just a pathetic Plywood structure whereas it's better in Standard Room.

Blankets are provided only in master bed. We paid extra ₹3,000 for two kids but noticed there were no Blankets provided to kids bed.

Food was the biggest Let Down. Both Dinner & Breakfast were Terrible. May be because of the cooks were North Indians, All dishes except live prepared 'Appam' were not upto mark and the Mallu Porotta provided during Dinner was tasting really awkward.

There was a group of 30-40 people were there in the resort as part of Day Out programme. It caused really big crowd and long queue for evening snacks and Tea. (On putting this issue into the notice of staff, they tried to solve it by providing Tea and Snaks to canoe which was there in our package) Only Two indoor games, Carrom & billiards were there, both are maintained in poor condition.

There is no swimming pool in the property. The natural pool as per the resort is the unsecured, shallow water around the property.

The opportunity to do Kayak is the only good memory I got during the stay.

Updating On 09/02/2023 The Operations Manager personally called explained their situations on that day, as they have some extra guests as Day Out programme and she apologized for the Chaos and promised to take care of alike situations in the future. Pathetic customer service. Happened to stay their for a day with friends and the stay wasn't at all pleasent. The reviews are all misleading and incorrect. The customer service right from the reception onwards was so bad, the attitude is the main issue, I am all for women empowerment and it was great seeing mostly ladies around managing and coordinating but they were extremely unprofessional and lacked the basics of how to respond even. The location and property is great and has a great potential but the staff are extremely under trained. The day we stayed the dinner buffet ran out despite only being a handful of people and the food is not at all good, everything tasted bland especially chilly fish which only had batter not even a trace of fish. Also, the lady at the reception who was their at the time and was speaking to the people was extremely rude in her approach. They say in the package kayaking is included but there are only two kayaks, one double occupancy and the other single occupancy that to depends on the fact that there are no others in your timeslot. So, if you are a family of 4, one of you would have to wait outside! We were taken around sight seeing the island in a small boat, the people were very friendly and great compared to the ones at the resort. The funniest part was that they even changed us for soft drinks which we didnt even order, the ones we ordered were all paid by us. When you question them they say its on camera but then they dont have the clips. Very very bad service overall, rooms are good, location is fabulous apart from that everything is a zero. Looking at the cost of the stay I personally feel it is not worth it. For this money you get better facilities, good food and activities. During our District Conference I got a lucky Draw Winner Coupon given by Lake & River Resort of Munroa Island situated at Munroathuruthu near Kallada for one night stay in their resort with free with good and accommodation including free boat riding for three hours in ashtamudi lake. After coming home I forgot about the free coupon and on the 8th when I got the coupon the coupon validity expired on 30th. In between they have phoned me also. But when I asked them, the owner of the resort was kind enough to extend the validity and invited me to join with them for a free boarding and lodging. Moreover, the owner of the resort Mr. Akhil is also a rotarian if Kollam Metro. As per their invitation, myself and my wife went their on 11th 2PM,July, 24 and we were received by their staff with a welcome drink and escorted to their 5 Star type AC two bed room suite and attached a single bed small room also. After taking some rest, at 3.30 PM, we were served different snacks with coffee/Tea. After that at 4 PM, we were taken in boat to take around ashtamudi lake and kallada river. After 3 hours we came back to Lake and River to go around the lake which is spread over two acres of land with water bodies surrounded on all the three sides with kallada river and ashtamudi lake. Night we had a delicious dinner of our choice and after a calm and enjoyable sleep, we had a different items of breakfast and by noon we left from there. Night we could meet the owner Mr. Akhil a humble rotarian. The staff are so polite and hospitable. Thus my search for a vacation away from home in a resort end here. Set in a breathtaking location with a range if luxurious amenities like private pooll, fish pond, lush green turf, sit and enjoy the morning/evening in the banks of river and lake.
