We arrived, prebooked, as a family of 4. We had booked one room with 2 double beds. My wife even e-mailed in advance to clarify that we were 2 adults and 2 children and 2 double beds were required. On arrival we were informed the hotel didn't have any rooms at all with 2 double beds. When questioned about the website and even shown a screen shot of the 2 adults 2children and 2double beds page just shrugged their shoulders and said we don't have any rooms at all with 2 double beds. One single mattress was provided. One set of bedding and one pillow, giving our room a total of 3 single beds for 4 people. After 2 nights we requested a 4th pillow and were given one.||We booked this particular hotel so my wife could photograph the local wildlife while the children could be entertained in the pool. On arrival the pool was green. The steps slimy. You could not see the bottom. We were told it was totally usable. They did not want to go in the first day, and I can't blame them. On the second day however they couldn't hold off any more and used the pool. The underwater visibility was around 1 foot!.||The hotel at this time was very quiet and peaceful and the view of the river so nice and perfect for bird and wildlife watching that we let these issues go. Even the fact that there was no hot water in our room at all or that it was advertised with a bath but only had a shower. It was also advertised with a kitchenette and fridge but had neither.||The following day we were told we were not able to use the pool until the following morning as it was being cleaned!! Yes you guessed it because the hotel was fully booked from the following day! And yes the following day we had hot water!! Totally unacceptable. Same room, different facilities, same price. Wrong wrong wrong.||The following day the hotel was fully booked. Including a large group of indian men, apparently doctors. They were drinking late into the night in the pool making a lot of noise. I was woken several times up until 1 am. ||At 12.45am I was woken by someone trying to get into our room repeatedly. I discovered the next day that this was the hotels ac engineer!!!||We took some snacks that evening in our room. The food at the hotel is to be avoided. It is totally overpriced. We played 150rps per plate for French fries that were cold and stale, the portions were very small. ||The next morning we were informed that again we could not use the pool as it had food, tissue and BROKEN GLASS in it from the night before.||I went down to reception where there were 3 employees behind the desk. I waited patiently but was ignored. In fact they got up without saying anything to me and all left the desk and walked off! ,"Hospitality" industry??||I had to actually chase one down. At this point my list of issues was to long to let go! I asked to see the manager.||On listing off all my problems so far with my stay I asked if he would be happy if he was me he replied no of course not and wanted to sort out the problems. He came up with taking the 2 plates of French fries off the bill and giving us 2 bottles of water and some tea!!!!! I told him where he could put his pitiful 400rps odd (overpriced) pathetic offering and if he wanted to sort the issue out to call me when he had a better solution. I didn't here from him again!||I said that I thought the pool would need to be drained to ensure all the glass was got out. It was not. We were informed it was ready to use again that afternoon.||My children did go into the pool again that evening. There were some indian children in there who informed them that if they see any glass to take it out!!!||The photo uploaded is from the following morning showing another glass lying near the pool. ||As is stated in other reviews I have now read, the building is lovely, the rooms spacious and a lot of the staff friendly and helpful. However it is extremely badly managed, maintained ( our curtain rail came down the first night) and run. The food is overpriced and not good and the description of the hotel on the websites is not accurate. In addition to the above mentioned the table tennis net was broken as was the equipment in the gym (totally unusable)||The hotel is an accident waiting to happen quite literally. If you don't want your holiday, stay whatever ruined I would advise you to stay well away at all costs.||At check out they did take the 300rps for the cold stale French fries off the bill.||Woopy do.||Manor backwater needs to totally change its attitudes and practices if bit wants to call it's self a hotel at all. ||Akin to Faulty Towers but with no...
Read moreSo about this resort if the experience can be made crystal clear in one simple phrase it would be termed “pathetic hellhole at kumarakom”. To begin with its nothing like the pictures they advertised, combine that fact with the typical indian OYO mentality it’s a disaster at best. Be wary of the glowing reviews as most of them are manipulated and perhaps payed by the company to leave reviews.||We booked this place for a group stay, wasn’t expecting much just a decent honest place. As it turned out over the course of our stay, it’s pretty far from being decent place and the experience leaving a lot to be desired. They have this place advertised as a luxury resort but, reality is perhaps it’s an ancient relic. It can be best described as quick highway hotel or a budget motel|| ||The swimming pool is surprisingly always on maintenance, and filled with dirty slimy water. Try bringing this to the manager’s attention and you are greeted with a pathetic and lame response , one can sense he doesn’t care but rather insist the pool water is alright.||The in house restaurant is way overpriced for their tasteless food. The best advice is to venture out for food. Complimentary breakfast is joke with pathetic food ( bland expired bread, bland tasteless upma, stale perhaps microwave reheated dosa , bland pongal, fruit juice is tang, everything is tasteless (it’s their trademark you wouldn’t find a better tasteless food around ) .You wouldn’t see any guests at the restaurant so that should further make the point clear. So rather explore the place and venture out and get food from outside you would be better off.||The rooms are fitted with the cheapest ac units that they could find, so they do the job of cooling but it’s dirty overgrowing with fungus and breakdowns are common.||Again not very well appointed rooms so if you use the linens provided perhaps they have never been cleaned. The water in the bathroom stinks horribly and there is no hot water as required.||Then there is the lakeside view, nothing spectacular, breathtaking or otherwise. It’s just a regular view of a lake.||Everything about this place reeks of disaster and inevitably leaves a sour experience. A thought that crossed my mind over the course of our stay was that, for some reasons the people in this area kumarakom are rude and unwelcoming despite the fact that tourism is their revenue stream. It’s as if they unwillingly doing us visitors a favor. This Manor house resort is an epitome of this feeling and I wouldn’t recommend this place even to my enemies most probably guest would never return this place again. So do yourself a favor and look away better than a over hyped place called Kumarakkom and definite no to...
Read moreI had booked this hotel from Goibibo. Please watch Wrong turn trailer before going to this hotel you may have a similar experience. I checked in this hotel with my wife and one more couple. We were only 2 couples in the hotel and no other room was booked. The rooms were on the ground floor & facing backwater and had a glass wall/door only without any grill to prevent outside person entry. Late night around 10.30 I heard a sound on my window. I opened the curtains and i saw some person moving away from my balcony. I thought maybe that was some animal but I then switched off the lights and peeped through the curtain to see what was happening. I saw a person climbing the balcony barrier and coming towards the glass door. I shouted and he ran away. I called the no.s mentioned in the message received from goibibo and even the reception no. but there was no response. I went to the reception to seek help and to my surprise nobody was there. Even there was no security gaurd present there. Terrified I woke up my friend in another room and we found one security gaurd sleeping and asked him to call receptionist. When the receptionist came along with two other person they went outside my room to check. They later confirmed that there were footprints in the balcony as the sand was wet.
The hotel is near coastline of backwaters and there is no boundary or security to prevent tresspassing. Moreover, there are no doors and there are multiple passages connecting the backwaters to the hotel. This hotel has no security, even the lights were not turned on of the whole hotel, no receptionist are there present all time.
Even this hotel has no dinner service available. If you want food you have to go outside in search of food and the approaching road to this hotel is desolated and you may not even find enough lights on this road.
I will not recommend anyone to...
