This is neither a resort, nor a hotel, as it purports to be in its advertising. It's a poor quality homestay. Yes, it's on the beach, but the water had a brown film on it and rubbish bobbing around when we were there. There is a larger beach close by, but that also had rubbish strewn in the sand and bobbing in the water. Neither were beaches that we would swim at.||||As for the accommodation:||- Our "deluxe" room had patched up (but visible) cracks in the wall, a cupboard full of cobwebs and nowhere else to store anything, 2 single beds pushed together with a very thin mattress and uncomfortable pillows, and a kettle with some Nescafe coffee and sugar (no tea) ||- The bathroom was very basic, with nowhere to leave anything.||- Other than the sheets, nothing else looked or felt clean. ||- Wifi barely worked in the room. ||- The thin curtains let the light in all night and we had no privacy if we left them open in the daylight to look at the sea view, so we had to either contend with the child from the next room sticking his face in the window or close the curtain and forego the promised sea view.||- The common area also looked and felt unclean.||||Staff were nice enough, but hardly customer focused. When we tried to pre-order breakfast for 8am (because we had to be somewhere by 10am), they tried to talks us into an 8.30am breakfast instead (because, according to them, 8am didn't work with their timing).||||Food was as basic and expensive as the accommodation. We were charged 300 rps per person for some fish and a few very small side dishes and cheap samba rice. Breakfast was ok, but slow service at 8am (despite us ordering the night before). We had to ask for tea and then ended up leaving without it because it took too long.||||No idea why people have rated this property so highly! We got conned by the reviews - think twice before...
Read moreAfter 24 hours flying to India Manshore Bay is a welcome sight. Whilst a challenge to get to by car or taxi, our host Nicholas escorts you the final few hundred metres with a smile and no problem. The hotel is multi-levelled with our room being part of the older building and very suitable for our basic needs, clean, all necessary furniture and facilities, and a real double bed! although the mattress is firmer than at home.|We ate Indian food from breakfast to dinner and it was homely, fresh and very very tasty. The staff try very hard and whilst their English isn’t extensive they try, they learn and everything is done with a smile.|The hotel can sort anything for you....trains, taxis, recommendations for places to visit, just ask.|The beach is small and relatively private and Thottada beach is a short walk away which was empty when we went. The sea is warm and at the moment the swell is quite strong but lovely when you’re in. You can sea the mussel divers daily going about their business, there is plenty of fish life (and also to eat) and we saw a school of dolphins pass by and also some jumping out of the water - so special to see, not your normal sight over breakfast.|It is a peaceful place with the quiet only broken by the occasional fishing boat motor and the very infrequent tuk-tuk.|Overall this is a friendly, homely place which is slowly upgrading. So don’t come if you want the trappings of big hotels, but do if you want a relaxed time, idle chats, reading on the veranda with cold water or beers, mixing with the locals when out walking and not forgetting swimming in the warm Arabian Sea.|Thanks Nicholas, (and his mum the cook) Nevin, Vinny, and the old guy from down the road who...
Read moreTerrible terrible experience for us. We went to Manshore Bay in October 2025 to stay for a couple of days. The owner accepted the booking which was done a month prior. Our decision to go there was solely due to one of our relatives' prior visit here which they found to be good with the location so close to the sea.||The owner informed us a day prior to our visit that some sea facing wall had collapsed and that our stay will not be affected. But to our surprise, not just the wall but the whole bunch of rooms were getting renovated, if he had told us prior we would. not have planned to visit at all.||The owner of the stay made our whole journey a messy affair by not giving good clean rooms, the bedsheets were torn, the pillows were all useless with no one getting a good night's sleep. When questioned, the owner an arrogant fellow asked us to stay how it is or quit to some place else. A very arrogant idiot.||The next day inspite of us making a decision to stay back (which was our fault), he got some JCB work done which tore apart the electicity to the rooms by late evening. We then made a hasty decision to change the stay and had a book a different room in the city paying a higher price.||I would urge people not to visit this place. Reasons being:||1. Unclean and unhygienic rooms, kitchen and amenities|2. Arrogant staff and owner|3. Lack of clean usable pillows, bedsheet(torn being given imagine)|4. You get a lot of other beach side resorts well maintained...
