Perch by the sea — Hotel in Kerala

We stayed at Perch by the Sea in October 2025 — an all-girls (and one very pampered pup) getaway! Our mission: find a peaceful place by the sea for our 76-year-old mom to relax and for our puppy, Bella, to chase her beach dreams. After being politely turned down by several “pet-friendly” stays (who apparently meant friendly in theory 😅), Nikhil and team came to the rescue!

We stayed in the big room on the first floor — the view was absolutely breathtaking, and the rates didn’t break the bank (a rare combo these days!). Mom loved her morning sea breeze, the kids couldn’t get enough of the waves, and Bella… well, she found her calling. She spent hours just gazing at the sea from the balcony like she was in a doggy version of a Bollywood movie. 🐶💨🌅

Breakfast was delicious, the beach — accessible by a few steps — felt like our very own private paradise, and every evening ended with laughter and salty air. We also got to experience the rains and roar of the ocean on one of the days. Huge thanks to Manager Abhi for being super helpful, and to Ramesh (hope I got the name right!) for his warm service and smile.

I found Perch by the Sea through reviews on Google. I was heading to Kannur for a couple of nights and needed somewhere to lay my head - so a booking was made. I arrived in the dark which is not the best start, but a delicious fish curry dinner was awaiting me in the palm tree, cliff top garden a good start.

Waking up the next morning then showed the wonderful position of PbtS atop the cliffs above a beautiful small bay. Excellently built metal staircase takes you down to the beach - I swam and swam.

Delicious breakfast both Keralan and the continental array with the best freshly squeezed juices delivered to the garden table.

Suffice to say the 2 days booked extended to 5 nights and it was exactly what I needed.

Thanks to the manager Suresh who was a calm quiet experienced elder who keeps everything running and assisting in Enquiries. Special thanks to three staff who keep everything - cooking, cleaning done so well.

Just spent 2 incredible days at Perch by the Sea in Kannur, and I’m already dreaming of going back. 🌊 This homestay sits on a beautiful hilltop with sweeping views of the ocean—it feels surreal, almost like stepping into another world. Peace, solitude, and complete privacy surround you, making it the perfect escape to reconnect with yourself and nature.

What truly made the stay special was Abhi’s hospitality and the support of his amazing team. They made everything so easy and welcoming, adding to the charm of this serene spot.
