I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I received during my recent stay at your hotel. The experience I had, especially regarding the handling of my room service order and the behavior of certain staff members, was far from acceptable. My company made the booking, and we are required to follow specific rules, which apply uniformly across all hotels. During my stay, I placed an order for room service, which included the same items I had ordered the previous night. However, when I ordered a mojito as my beverage, I was not informed that it would incur additional charges. Later, when I received my food delivery, the staff member asked me to sign for it, stating it was for the food, since we do sign for food bills and thinking later on they send it to the company, i signed it. Upon querying this, I called reception to check if there was any pending bill under my room number and was told that I owed for the mojito. Since my company includes one beverage as part of the room package at all hotels, I explained this to the receptionist and then he tranferred the call to inroom dining However, I was told that the mojito was categorized as a mocktail from the bar section and was chargeable. When I said that no one had informed me of this when I placed the order, the same staff member who took my order became rude. Another staff member took over the call and questioned how I could have placed an order for a mojito, stating it wasn’t included in the menu for my company. I then explained that I had ordered the same food previous night and everytime when i stay here i order the same basic meal and pointed out that I had never received a menu from the reception. The staff member then transferred me to the guy (manager), who, rather than addressing the issue professionally, made unfounded allegations, suggesting that it must be my first visit or must be another staff member might have taken menu on my behalf. I even acknowledged that there could have been an error on my part for not hearing it properly for the information about the charge for the mojito. However, I also insisted that you must take responsibility for not providing a menu, and the baseless allegations (like we will check the cctv footage) against me were completely unwarranted. The situation escalated (during my check out time)when “ANU”,the staff member in charge, responded to my concerns in a rude and dismissive manner. She made it clear that she believed the staff member who took my order could not have been wrong, citing his 20 years of experience. Her comments in front of my colleagues made me feel humiliated, and she even went as far as to say she would file a complaint about me to my company. I was ready to pay for the mojito and i PAID for it at the end putting the situation behind me, but her arrogance and lack of professionalism left me feeling disrespected. When i asked for the bill she refused to give it to me. The only proof i have is GPAY. In return, I left the full glass of mojito (which i didnt took a sip)with a sticker on it, saying, "Thank you for your arrogance and service," placed on the reception counter. This was my way of expressing how small and belittled I felt in front of my colleagues, especially since I wasn’t the one who made the booking. It is truly disheartening to think that an employee of such a caliber represents your hotel. I trust that you will take this matter seriously, as no guest should ever be treated in such a manner. I hope this feedback will lead to improvements in your staff’s training and overall guest service. Thank you for your attention to...
Read moreDisappointed Stay at Raviz Kadavu – Not Worth the Hype
We recently stayed at Raviz Kadavu, expecting a peaceful and refreshing experience, but unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing hotel stays we’ve ever had — and that includes budget hotels in small towns.
We didn’t originally plan to stay in Kozhikode, but due to some personal work delays, we had to extend our trip by a day. To unwind and de-stress, we chose Raviz hoping for some 5-star hospitality. Sadly, what we got instead was 5-star frustration.
The staff member who escorted us to the room looked like he had just been told to walk 10km barefoot — absolutely no smile, no warmth, just pure reluctance. We felt unwelcome from the moment we checked in, like we were being treated differently for reasons unknown.
We’ve stayed in many hotels across London and Ireland, including boutique and business hotels, and even those were leagues ahead in service compared to what we experienced here. Raviz, being a reputed name, was expected to offer something exceptional. Instead, it felt like we had checked into a “no-value-for-money” package with complimentary disappointment.
The AC Situation – Let’s just say it decided to take the night off. Maybe it was on a secret power-saving mission? We were sweating like dosa on a tawa by midnight. After a few hours, it magically started working again — we didn’t even bother calling anyone at that point because we had already accepted our fate.
The TV Saga – We complained three times. Each time, a technician would come, do a temporary jugaad, and leave. The TV would work briefly, then stop again if we dared to change the channel or leave the room. Eventually, we gave up and mentally upgraded to an audio-only package.
We expected comfort, basic courtesy, and working facilities. Instead, we felt like we were being judged or treated as if we didn’t belong there — which was the worst part. Hospitality should be equal and welcoming, no matter who the guest is. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, whether they arrive in a Benz or a Maruti.
Dear Raviz team – this experience should not happen to any guest. A hotel is not just about the rooms or decor, it’s about how you make people feel. Unfortunately, we left feeling more stressed than when we checked in.
Verdict: No value for money. If you're looking for warmth, comfort, and working basic amenities, this may not be it.
One bright spot in our stay was definitely the dining area staff — they were warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. That’s the kind of real hospitality we were hoping for throughout the property. If the same attitude and energy were reflected across all teams, our stay could have been an entirely different story — in a good way!
The breakfast was genuinely good — a nice variety, well-prepared, and served with smiles. It gave us a bit of hope after a rough night battling the air-conditioning gods. But then came dinner, and… well, the fish must’ve been having a bad day. It was of such poor quality that we were left wondering if it was meant for guests or just accidentally delivered from the local bait shop 😅. The chicken curry was the saving grace — flavorful and cooked just right. The rest of the dishes were sadly just average and didn’t live up to the standards you'd expect from a hotel of this level.
There’s definitely potential here — with the great dining staff and a better kitchen crew, Raviz can turn meals into memorable experiences. A little more consistency and care in what’s served on the plate can...
Read moreThis property has a beautiful location, delicious food, a wonderful houseboat tour and can be a great experience "IF" they improve their services and guest relationships. We had booked a 'deluxe double room with river view balcony' for one night as we were supposed to arrive at 4pm and check out early morning at 6am. After a beautiful week long vacation in Wayanad, we simply wanted a peaceful last day before our flight back from Calicut. But our stay was not hassle free and became extremely discomforting and exhausting for us especially because of the front desk staff. The check in process and check out process was so bad that we would never want to return back to this hotel. Upon arrival we realised that the room we had booked wasn't like the photos at all. The room was very small, dull, had twin beds and the view was covered by trees. We had travelled 4 hours and were exhausted and wanted to use the toilet in the room before we change the room but were asked not to do so, so that it isn't troublesome for the housekeeping. We were unhappy with the room so we waited patiently as they showed us another room which didn't have a balcony. If we wanted to take a room without balcony we would have booked a smaller category room but they said that all other rooms were full. I asked if they could upgrade us to a higher category room and they said it wasn't available. But when I told them that I would pay for the upgrade, suddenly the room became available. We then upgraded to the cottage which was a much better room and facing the river by paying extra. This whole process took 1 hour. I had also asked to meet the GM of the hotel, but the staff didn't arrange the meeting. We had booked a houseboat ride at 4:30 so we were in a rush as the staff had informed us that it was the last slot of the day as the boat can't sail when the tide isn't right and we didn't want our money to go waste. But our luggage took almost 30 mins to be transferred in the room and had to call the reception several times. As we were checking out in the morning early we also decided to complete the check out process in the night itself after a wonderful dinner, but the check out process took way too long to exhaust us more. After making us wait for about 30-45mins, they didn't give us a proper bill but rather gave us a letter stating that we had made so and so payments and told us that we would receive the bill on email the next day. The behaviour of the front desk staff was not welcoming and comforting at all. My mothers hand got wounded and I asked the front desk to send dettol and cotton to clean the wound while I was making the payment. After waiting for a long time, I called the reception again from the room to send it. Such things should have been given immediate attention. After watching us struggle there was only one member of staff named Pranav who was very kind enough to offer us a take away sandwich in the morning. Other than him, no-one spoke to us nicely. The food at this property was very nice and we really enjoyed the in room dining also. Another thing that was nice here was the laundry service. I asked for laundry late at night and received it on time in the morning early at 6am. We wish the front desk staff was more polite and empathetic, we would have definitely re-visited the property. Amidst all the properties in Calicut this seemed like the best one. But the experience isn't created by properties, it is created by people. But this hotel lacks an understanding of this...
