A Hidden Gem in Khajuraho – Luxurious Comfort at an Affordable Price
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Prem’s Homestay in Khajuraho, and it was truly one of the best accommodation experiences I’ve had in a long time. If you’re searching for a stay that’s comfortable, budget-friendly, and yet surprisingly luxurious, look no further—this place checks all the boxes.
Right from the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The host, Prem, is exceptional—welcoming, helpful, and always ready to assist with a smile. His dedication to ensuring guests have a smooth and enjoyable stay is evident in every small gesture. Whether it’s helping with local guidance, arranging transport, or simply chatting over tea, his presence makes the stay feel personal and homely.
The homestay itself is a delight. The property is extremely well-maintained and clean. Marble flooring across the rooms and common areas gives the place a classy, almost resort-like feel. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully furnished to make your stay cozy and relaxing. You’ll immediately notice the peaceful ambiance—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring Khajuraho’s stunning temples and architecture.
One of the absolute highlights for me was the food. Every meal was freshly prepared, home-cooked, and packed with authentic flavors. Whether it was a simple breakfast or a hearty dinner, everything tasted incredible and reminded me of wholesome home food.
Pro tip: If you’re planning your visit during the summer months, definitely opt for an AC room. Khajuraho can get quite hot, and having that extra comfort makes a big difference in enjoying your downtime.
Location-wise, the homestay is in a peaceful area yet close enough to all major attractions, making it very convenient for sightseeing without sacrificing tranquility.
To sum it up, Prem’s Homestay is a wonderful blend of affordability, comfort, and luxury. It’s not just a place to stay—it’s a place to feel at home. Highly recommended for solo travelers, families, or anyone who appreciates heartfelt hospitality and...

Everything is clean! Like actually clean! And so comfortable! The rooms are spacious and have natural light, but are also fresh and cool inside even when it's hot outside. Screens on all the windows so we never had problems with mosquitoes. Very quiet and peaceful.
The sunsets and stars are magical from the rooftop, and you can watch the local kids playing cricket. The garden is pleasant and we had fresh papayas from the tree. We were allowed to use the kitchen anytime we needed, and the homestay also offers delicious food at good prices.
The wifi is good: electricity does cut out pretty frequently everywhere in Khajuraho but it generally comes back within a minute or two, and there is good cellphone reception at Prems Homestay so you can back up with data if you're a digital nomad and need to work.
The area is about 15 minutes walk from the main road, a pleasant stroll past wheat fields and water buffalos and friendly children all saying hello. It's like stepping into the past, where everything is simple and kind and safe. You can also easily get rickshaws to pick you up if you don't want to walk. The value for money is fantastic, totally worth staying here even if it's a few minutes farther from town.
Prems Homestay has two buildings and a range of rooms with different prices. We stayed in the cheapest one and even that was absolutely perfect. We spent 12 days and could happily have stayed more.
Mr. Neeraj and Mr. Manu were so attentive and helpful, by the time we left they felt like friends. They cleaned every day, made sure we had everything we needed, and were also super respectful and chill, so I would have felt perfectly comfortable and safe even as a solo female. Mr. Neeraj speaks perfect English and can answer any questions. They were also kind enough to let us do early check-in and late check-out, and even helped us buy our train...
Read morePrem's Home Stay is clean. It is a quiet place; away from the busy center of the city. It has a small, beautiful garden with a small Shiva Shrine. Meditating there when the lights are lit in the evening is a truly beautiful experince. Staff is friendly, welcoming, and supportive. What I want to mention more than anything is about the parents of the owner of Prem's Home Stay. The father brought me to Home Stay in his tuk tuk. Before taking me to Home Stay he invited me to a cup of masala tea at his house, which is situated on the way to the Home Stay. The mother - a loving, kind, and sharing mathaji with a big smile - prepared tea for me. It was just the beginning: they several times invited me for a delicious lunch or a cup of tea. Mathaji brought my memories back growing up in a remote village in Lanka at my grandma's place. She used to invite people who are passersby for a shade, food or water...Those were the days when we could naturally see someone as a fellow human being. Pitaji was always punctual to take me to Khajuraho Temples, market place...etc. He was always concerned about my safety... They touched my heart just like the sculptures who had given life to the stones in Khajuraho Temples. Mathaji and Pitaji are the symbol of India. India - 'another name for inner space'; a big heart. THANK YOU. A small suggestion: please, keep an exact Hindi Translation of the Prem's Home Stay menu. It will make easier to explain Neeraj (the boy who cooks delicious food)...
