We booked through Booking.com and posted the following review that we consider the best expression of what we experienced at Khajuraho Rancho. The homestay is a true gem in Khajuraho : a neat and tidy lovely place offering everything you may need and where the hosts will go above and beyond to meet your expectations. Excellent value for money: the room and the bathroom were large and clean, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was excellent and served in a sheltered place opening onto the lovely garden where you will occasionally meet and talk to the people as if you were an old friend of theirs. We valued their absolute authenticity, plain simplicity and keen sense of friendship. As we travelled by train, we organized our arrival with Haim who picked us up from the railway station and later explained everything to us with his brother as they can also organize trips to the temples... and beyond! In the evening, we would go to Raja Café (another gem in Khajuraho!) for dinner and Haim never failed to collect us from the restaurant as agreed. Feeling part of a family spanning three generations was a great experience that brought us closer to Indian life in a village and enriched our knowledge of Indian culture and diversity. Read moreThis family homestay is definitely one of the very best I stayed at. Naeem Khan, one of the sons, a kind softly-spoken young man, takes care of every wish one could have, going from practical issues such as groceries and laundry, to taking you to a sunrise view and the world-famous ancient Khajuraho temples, or to the Panna Tiger Reserve. His equally kind sister Roseny provides delicious home cooking with herbs and plants from the garden at whatever time you like. Clean cold water and tea are provided at any time, and a delicious breakfast is also included. // The spacious room and bathroom are very clean, hot water and towels are provided, and a quiet sitting place looking out over the inner courtyard is a wonderful place to work or simply sit and chat. // For motorbikers this place is ideal too, as it has safe inside parking lot and Naeem is a keen mechanic in case something is needed for your bike. // Do spare a couple of nights in this amazing unique small town, and do spend them with this welcoming family. Very highly...
Read moreNaeem is a wonderful and very solicitous host. he picked us up at the airport and drove us anywhere we wanted in the tuk tuk- not entirely sure, but this doesn’t seem to be a great walking city. Everyone seems to move by motor vehicle.
his sister-in-law is a great cook, and the meals were delicious. The room has high ceilings and a very comfortable bed. He arranged for us to find a spot on the tiger tour when they were hard to get (be smarter than we were and bring all your warm clothes when you leave at 4:30 AM) he has an excellent available guide to recommend who took us around the western temples. -it was super interesting and afterwards the guide took us on a walking tour of the old part of town . Highly recommend the Guide as you get so much more out of it.
Naeem set up a Ayurvedic massage too he has lots of suggestions.
His 14 month old nephew is super cute and will play hide and seek with you...
