Hotel BK — Hotel in Maharashtra

I arrived at Latur station at 7 AM to attend a marriage later in the afternoon. I had a few hours, so I thought of freshening up, have some sleep and maybe do some reading before going to the marriage venue. I hired an auto and went to BK lodge near Shivaji chowk. It is about 5 km from Latur Station. ||From outside, BK lodge is an average building. Not attractive, but not too shabby as well. The reception was in the lobby on the first floor. It was gloomy and dark at the reception, possibly due to a power outage. ||I asked for a non A/C room to Mr. Gore at the reception, who quickly said it is available for Rs. 600. I tried to negotiate a little and he agreed for Rs. 500. He asked for the money up front, which I gave. I soon realized that I made a mistake. ||I was provided a room at the corner of the second floor. It was now 7:30 AM but the sun was already blazing sun through the clear window. It was hot inside. Forget sleeping, I could not think about staying there for a few minutes. I asked for another room. The boy said he will have to ask.||After a minute, I was provided another room, room no. 206. It was slightly cooler, as the sun did not enter directly. But it was still warm. The boy said closing the curtains may help, so we did that. Though it blocked the air, I hoped it will cool the room down. ||Once I settled in, I looked at the room. It was shabby at the best. The paint was peeling off from the lower half of all the walls. The beds were made, but the bedsheets were not clean, probably not washed after the last guest had used them. The blankets were dark, so could not make out the cleanliness. ||I went to the bathroom to check. Alas, the story continued there. The toilet bowl had layers of dirt, making it dark inside. Not surprisingly, the flush did not work, so we were supposed to pour water from the tap after doing our business. ||The only saving grace was the floor of the bathroom and the living room was clean. However, all the furniture like the table and the chair had layers of dust. ||There was no water heater of geyser in the bathroom. The boy said he can bring hot water. After half hour, he brought the hot water in bucket and stood outside. I asked him to put the bucket in the bathroom, but he asked me to get the bucket from my bathroom so that he could pour the hot water in it and take his bucket back.||After bath, I wanted to go out for breakfast. That is when I realized that I was not given a room key. With laptop inside, I did not intend to keep the room unlocked. I went to reception. Mr. Gore was not there, but the boy was. He searched for the key in the drawers for a few minutes before drawing a blank as anticipated. I did not have any option but to leave the room, trusting that the boy will look after it. It was not a big problem as it looked like the hotel was empty except me.||After my breakfast, out of curiosity I enquired with other hotels nearby - Hotel Anjani, Hotel Shantai International, etc. Their standard rooms were at Rs. 800, but they were all fully booked. Now I realized why Hotel BK is fully unbooked in this marriage season. I would not have minded paying slightly more if I had known that the hotel will be this bad.||The lesson learned: The best way is to book a hotel is to see the room first, which may not be possible if you are visiting from outside. I heard about this hotel through my friend who stayed here 2 years back. Even though I didn't find much details about this hotel on trip advisor, I thought of giving it a try on my friend's advice.||||I should say, compared to the money charged by them, the rooms were excellent and the service was also good. Also as the restaurant on the ground floor served non-veg food as well as drinks which as an added advantage. The food served was tasty and even though it's not a 3 star hotel type of service, its worth the money spent as the charges are very reasonable. Stayed for three days at Hotel B.K. Latur, It was lovely stay enjoyed a perfect stay and services from hotel. Hotel location was very comfortable for me, I had booked this at arrival easy booking process made me so happy and relaxed, Co operative management staff and ground staff made me so happy.
