The Heritage Club, Tripura Castle — Hotel in Meghalaya

I recently had lunch at the restaurant in Heritage Club with a friend, and while the food and ambience were commendable, the hospitality left much to be desired. The waitstaff exhibited a noticeable sense of entitlement and were quite rude throughout our visit. This behavior was particularly off-putting and detracted significantly from our dining experience.

When it came time to pay the bill, we were unpleasantly surprised to see a 5% service charge added. This is against government regulations, which prohibit restaurants from levying service charges on food bills. I requested the waiter to remove this charge, but he refused, stating that the service charge was compulsory and non-negotiable. His manner was brusque and confrontational, making the situation awkward and uncomfortable, especially in front of my friend.

In the end, I had no choice but to pay the service charge, despite my objections. This experience highlighted a significant area for improvement at this restaurant. The management needs to ensure that their staff are polite and respectful towards customers. Moreover, they must adhere to government regulations and remove the service charge if a customer objects to it. The waiter’s imposition was not only inappropriate but also illegal.

We stayed in a large heritage room with a beautiful garden at the back. The bathroom is very modern with brand new fittings. The breakfast spread is average and there is no room service till 1pm!

Overall it is a good heritage property in the heart...

Ultimate experience, I have been there so many times, but the entity and the services along with Food is Ultimate.

One should stay here and feel the Forest home when visiting...
