As a retired journalist from the United States, I have been spending about two weeks every year in Panvel working on a research paper. Last month thought of staying at Panchratna.||||The entry to the hotel was rather dramatic. On leaving the taxi that had dropped me to the hotel I got a feeling that I had left three mobile phones: two for India and one for use in the US, in the taxi. They had all my contact numbers and besides as tourist getting new SIM card would take a couple of days.||||Salim Pagarkar, the Manager of the hotel, was an angel who calmed me down, took me to his office, called the taxi company and informed his administrative staff to let me use their phones not only for local calls but even to be in touch with my family in New Jersey, till I could find my own phones or get new SIM card. The hotel had one of the best wi-fi which I used extensively to send my reports. I fell in love with the staff at the reception desk for their courtesy and professionalism. The bedsheets, towels etc. were changed on a daily basis. The food was excellent and just outside the hotel autorickshaws are available that can take you to various places nearby including the Orion Mall, Panvel bus and railway terminal et al.||||Needless to say, for my future visits I am not going to take risk trying other hotels but have found a place to stay while in Panvel:...

But these guys had audacity to not turn on the generator and keep the guests in dark. As if this was not enough, after power was back, I came to realise that this hotel has bad electrical distribution and often end up having low voltage, due to which lights flickers and AC doesn't work. On top of this, they don't have deadbolt latch for the rooms. Instead they have tiny locking mechanism, which is usually used for bathrooms. Try to avoid the hotel unless it's do or...
