Welcoming, exceptionally clean, modern, flexible, friendly, customer service oriented, humble and accommodating. These are just some of the words I would use to describe the staff and management at the Best Western Summerlea in Jalandhar.
As we began to prep for my brotherβs wedding in Jalandhar, our major concern was getting a hotel that would cater to ours and our relatives needs in particular being a modern and clean facility. We were hosting numerous relatives from Australia, England, Kenya and USA, many of whom were coming to India for the first time. So we wanted a hotel that was very CLEAN, MODERN and CUSTOMER SERVICE FOCUSED.
Our family spent a total of 3 weeks at the Best Western Summerlea (November 2015 β December 2015) with our wedding party staying a whole 1 week (December 2015). In total we had 15 rooms and suites and over 25 people who stayed at the hotel.
The amenities of the hotel are very much above standard. Some of the areas I would like to highlight, which made our stay very nice and cozy: β’ Room cleanliness β’ Room amenities (Entertainment, Communication, Technology, Wireless Internet) β’ Very nice, tasty and diverse food buffets (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) β’ Quick room service β’ Friendly and smiling housekeeping staff β’ Exceptional wait staff and service at the restaurant
The staff and management at the Best Western Summerlea Hotel in Jalandhar did a very exceptional and commendable Job hosting us and our wedding Party. They promptly addressed all ours needs and made out stay extremely comfortable. They truly went above and beyond.
EXAMPLES OF GREAT SERVICE:
β’ I had a 3 and 5 year old with me and they felt like they were with family with the staff. The waiters and manager would bring balloons for them and even when we got late for breakfast some days, they still catered to our needs and extended the time so the kids would not go hungry.
β’ When my wife was sick during the stay with a throat ache, the staff made for her a nice desi medicinal tea without us asking and sent it to our room.
β’ On our last day the hotel management surprised my brother and his new bride with a cake. All these examples were very well appreciated. We truly felt at home during our stay.
β’ Since we were hosting the wedding at the hotel, our rooms occasional required to be cleaned twice with all the guests that were around. The room service department promptly and happily did this every time it was needed.
β’ When the power went out, the generators quickly kicked in.

Because of the extremely rude and impolite behaviour of Front Office Manager Mr. Akash Dohru , I had to check out of this hotel one day prior to my actual check out day. Having stayed here for almost a week I had faced some issues here and While communicating to The Front Office Manager Mr. Akash about some of the issues I faced with the Housekeeping staff , I was told βSO, WHAT CAN I DO IF U ARE STAYING HERE SINCE ONE WEEK as GUESTβ!!! This was what I was told while speaking about my issues. Also, the way he spoke as a Manager with a Woman Solo Traveler (Guest) was so rude and improper. My experience overall in these days was very very bad. I found the Front Office Reception staff people to be extremely rude while communicating with me. Being a woman solo traveler, I was extremely very disappointed while communicating with the Reception Staff people especially the morning male staff. Laundry services charges were miscommunicated to me. When I spoke with the Front Office Staff about it, they were extremely rude while communicating. Front Office staff are considered the βFACEβ of the hotel and they should be extremely polite while speaking to guests. Also, I was paying the bills such as Laundry and Food on a regular basis and only one pending bill was left and the Front Office Staff were in such a hurry to collect the bill even after I was already present and staying at the hotel. Still, they were in a hurry to collect one pending bill immediately. That was very impolite as being a woman solo traveler I was already staying in the hotel and they should have waited for sometime for the guests to come downstairs to the Reception Area. I haven't consumed anything from Mini Bar (Neither my 11 years Old son) But during my final check out billing i noticed bill was applied for stuff for mini bar too. I explained to the receptionist that i haven't consumed anything, specially one was Red bull and i never consume it because of its dangerous side effects (Obviously not my kid). She showed me empty can and chocolate wrapper pic as a proof, can u believe it :) which even house keeping guy could have used it while cleaning my house as i was out for whole day. And maybe they are using same pic for multiple customers to bill them, Also whats the proof that pic was belongs to my room..?
She trusted house keeping manager and NOT ME (The customer) and even after my full explanation she didn't removed the bill and i had to pay extra Rs 420 for the stuff which i haven't consumed.
They should investigate the matter as may be house keeping people are doing same for others too and could do in future as well.
It never happened to me ever in any other hotel. And even something could had happened I am sure hotel staff will trust customer and not house keeping staff but this is not the case with Best Western.
I will never stay in this hotel because house keeping staff is above...
