Bhanwar Niwas hotel is stunning in its art-deco architecture from the 1920s with a harmonious combination of Rajasthani and European elements of gorgeous sandstone, marble, glass from Belgium, European tiles, Bikaneri Usta art, and hand-painted walls giving each and every room it’s own character. Guests will enjoy seeing each other’s rooms and dining in the gorgeous dining hall which serves the most delicious soups, appetizers such as cutlets and quesadillas, and mouth-watering main courses and desserts. The courtyard is also a perfect place for chai and dessert.
It seemed as if each room for our family was hand-picked with care. My teenage daughter got a pretty pink room with floral motifs on the ceiling and a four post bed. My sons got a huge ground floor suite with twin beds, a sitting area, and beautiful decor. We got a large bedroom with a four post bed with canopy and local furniture including embellished bed lamps. We also got to tour the other guest rooms in the kotri, see an adjoining haveli, a beautifully hand painted 120 year old Jain temple within the kotri (it was built before the rest of the structure), and see the lovely drawing rooms with stunning peacock light fixtures.
There are lots of other gorgeous and well preserved havelis within walking distance nearby, so Bhanwar Niwas is a perfect base from which to truly experience the city. We really enjoyed walking around the Rampuria havelis, and were lucky enough to get a tour of one that is normally unoccupied.
My children, husband and I had an amazing and restful stay at Bhanwar Niwas hotel and highly recommend it to everyone for the outstanding service and food in a beautifully restored and authentic haveli. We can’t wait to...

Read moreWe stayed 2 nights at this hotel in the heart of the old city of Bikaner. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who is staying in Bikaner. It is a historic building and the courtyard and the rooms are spectacularly decorated. The service is excellent. We really enjoyed dining at the hotel(not many options in town). Mr Sanpath who served us in the restaurant provided excellent service and they served the food fresh and right off the stove. Some of the best food I had in India.
The only reason I rated the hotel a 4 and not a 5 is that the bathrooms while being large and clean, were a bit dated.
If you are considering visiting Bikaner - beware that this town is not touristy- it is the real India with cows, goats and dogs in the small streets and pathways with garbage around. The town appears to be friendly and safe but does not have the same amenities as some of the other more...
