Hotel Driftwood — Hotel in South Andaman Island

The hotel is what someone could expect out of a 2 star hotel. To start with, the deluxe rooms are good enough in size for a couple but the major drawback is the size of the toilet cum Bath, they are very small for that size of the room. Second thing is about the lighting, it’s not well lit to bring out the features of the room however, liveable. The wooden furnitures are decent but needs finishing and polishing. The sea view window (specific to my room) didn’t have locking mechanism and there were gaps in the window frame which was later rectified (after many requests). The bed sheets and linen were again decent but could be improved. Towels were clean but old. The hotel doesn’t provide sleepers (as mentioned 2 star hotel) and basic sanitary/ routine items though they provide two pieces of soaps. Tea bags and kettle were provided with two water bottles. The cap of the water bottles were rusted and needed replacement. The hotel provides parking space. The laundry is not included in room charges and laundry charges must be checked before giving anything for laundry. Coming to food, the restaurant needs a lot of work on the lighting and ambience. The food taste and quality was good but with not many choices in my package. It felt like home cooked food. The bar is good with ample space , for that matter it’s bigger than the restaurant and well maintained May be because people prefer to eat in bar. The bar is the major attraction with good quality of liquor and the ambiance. One of the best bar I would say. The hotel provided a deluxe room with complimentary BF at a very decent price. The hotel staff were also very polite and hard working, only thing is that you may need to remind them to get the things done. The hotel definitely has potential to grow provided they work on the aesthetics...

The Worst..... Horrible experience. When reached hotel at 12.00 noon the rooms were not ready. The lady receptionist provided us two Standard room without window though our booking was for Deluxe Special room. The receptionist told us to shift other room when it will be available. When we returned in evening after sightseeing no Deluxe special room provided on the plea that no Deluxe rooms are available. Any way we managed that night and during check out we told to provide room as per our booking when we returned from tour, as the same hotel was booked (by MMT tour package). When we returned again on 10/10/2022 for check in at 12.00 noon to our dismay no rooms were ready and that lady again tried to provide the same Standard rooms and told that no Deluxe rooms are available. When we tried to complain she again told to rest in Standard room and when rooms will be available she will provide the same. As we had bitter experience we refused. She again told it will take time to make ready the Deluxe room and finally after waiting for one hour we were provided other rooms. We were still in doubt about the category of that rooms. Plight not ends here. TV was only for show piece. Sugar, milk, coffee pouches were there, but no Cup, Spoon, Kettle to make tea/coffee. When asked for the same that lady again said that all rooms are packed and no Kettle is available and she will send someone to market to purchase one and it will take some time. When I asked to bring it from other room there after it was provided to us. MMT should not tie up with this type of...

Very spacious rooms even standard room without window also spacious and look like Deluxe room. Haddo Jetty is away 5-7 min drive from this hotel so if you are having Ferry for Havelock then you are at best place and can leave around 45-50min before from hotel and reach in 5min(you must reach around 30-40 min before Ferry departure). We stayed in Deluxe room and I must say no complaints with room apart from some time noise from roadside vehicle . We were too early in morning (much before checkin time ) so they provided us standard room to get fresh as our room was not ready.

For Breakfast there was some miss communication as we were informed that guest has an option to get it packed if they are having Ferry for Havelock. Breakfast timing were told around 7.30-7.45 AM but it started around 7.55AM and we were getting late for our Ferry. We requested to pack Breakfast but then we were told if guests need parcel then they have to inform one day prior. Apart from this we had good experience as their staff is helpful . my suggestion to other guests is inform staff one day before and get breakfast packed as you will get late for your Ferry for sure if you plan to have...
