Lies, Lies and more lies. We arrived at the hotel which is beautifully located. The building is a wonderful colonial example and the gardens are well maintained. We were ushered into a room, as we went in I mentioned how cold it was in there. There was no AC or heater. It was raining outside and around 9 degrees. The manager told me "Don't worry we will light the fire for you, get you a heater and some blankets: He pointed to a nice fire and I thought ok, cool. I and my 65-year-old mother (this is important re the cold) went to check in. When they realised we had already booked online and weren't new customers they told us the room was more expensive but we could stay there for the same price. Great, we thought! We asked for the fire and heater and waited. 20 minutes later still no heater, still no wood. Over the space of an hour, me and my mother asked 6 times for these things. We had excuses from the wood is wet, to we don't have any, to we usually charge money for firewood - finally, 2 guys came in and put a few sticks, lit the fire and left. Of course, this went out as fires need logs. So we asked again. As we had walked around the hotel I saw a wood hut - inside lots of nice dry logs. I asked for the logs and was told there were none! I said what about the logs in the cupboard and he said I shouldn't go in there. So I asked for a heater - sorry we don't have any! So I complained and he said we could have wood for an extra 300 rupees! By this point I was so cold I said yes. Another 20 minutes later and they bought in around 8 pieces of small wood. I told him that I needed to do some work and I couldn't do it whilst my fingers were freezing off. He told me to wrap a blanket around myself!! I'm sorry but I don't pay to sit in a freezing cold hotel room. We ordered coffee - asked for it 3 times and finally, it came. So I sat in bed, fully dressed under a blanket writing on my laptop. At the top of a hill in the mist, this is not the place to be cold. We decided to go out and eat. When we came back we had to sleep in our clothes with 3 blankets on the bed. It was still cold! ||Next morning, I was woken at 7 am by the screams of a crying child in reception - which is a door away from the rooms. It went on until around 9 am. I know kids cry but someone should have said look guests are sleeping, do you mind taking him back to the room or something. So, decided to have a nice warm shower - impossible as the water hadn't been switched on - it was cold and when the tap was fully turned the water would barely drip out. Also, this place turns the wifi off when the guy on reception goes to bed. We cut our trip short and checked out. When we did they tried to charge us 400 rupees for the 8 twigs they have provided us for heating. Another argument. We left feeling cold and miserable. On the plus side leaving this terrible place meant we went on the Ooty toy train - which was an amazing experience. If you can't get tickets ask your rickshaw driver - he'll take you to a travel place to pick them up. My advice - DO NOT GIVE THESE...
Read moreROOMS: Not maintained Not clean Cob webs everywhere, foul and damp smelling bed sheets, comforters as well not washed. Water leakage on the whole roof, its an Asbestos (Tin) ceiling so when it rains there is terrible water leakage from the roof. water droplets falling everywhere on bed, table, chair, floor just EVERYWHERE!! washrooms are terrible, complete water leakage. walls of the room and bathroom are completely damp. Terrible experience with the rooms. Not worth the money paid. its sad and disappointing. You can find better rooms for even lesser price than this in some other hotel.
SERVICE: Service was a good, Anju is really sweet and does her best and helps with good room service. 5 star for Anju. No complains when it comes to food, the food served was sufficient and tasted good. Most prices are fair for the quality and quantity provided. Few non-veg options have hidden charges so do check with them before you order in bulk quantity. The chef cooks well 3.5 star for him.
LOCATION: The location is beautiful, it is city view and also mountain view. the sunsets are really amazing to watch and the night view of the city lights as well is really beautiful. No complains with location. The road leading to the stay is a bumpy ride because there is no concrete road, its mud road for about 500 mtrs. just before reaching the stay. rest of the road is good enough.
Overall: My overall experience was bad due to the rooms, I visited with my family and it was very difficult in the night for us trying to fix the leakage in the room as the water was falling right on the head and wet the pillows and bed. We book the stay to rest at night, what is point if we cant get a good night's sleep?? Had to stress hard for a compensation as they were not ready to understand the difficulty even after showing them the roof early in the morning! Its not the staff's mistake, the owner should be aware of these things and make sure there is proper maintenance. The owner is not available at hand so had to talk to him over the phone and convince him for compensation, very poor...
Read moreWe were a family with six members visited this place. We contacted Mr Dhilip, who extended good support right from beginning. Offered a good discount too despite a busy season during X-Mas and New Year celebrations. ||||The manager is helpful, staffs are nice. Shekhar is very helpful and mixing.Ready to attend all your issues.||||We took a Cottage Bungalow which had 2 bed rooms, 1 living room. One Bed room was big in size which could take 2 King size beds comfortably. For us it was perfect. Rooms were clean. Bathrooms were averagely maintained with basics only. Water geezers are provided. Little old fashioned rooms, but that's the vintage, they want to carry, I believe.||||Other rooms, I visited are also spacious. All the rooms are named not with Numbers but with British Names, justifies the name of the resort. Food prepared here is good, spicy and timely. You need to tell your food preference, the chef will adjust accordingly. which I found very comfortable. Price is little high, I think that is to compensate the altitude you are staying at.||||The outer view is very good and well maintained. Breakfast...
